Licked changing table!!

leafleaflet · 12/06/2017 13:43

My 8 month old just licked and mouthed a public changing table. Confused

He's a wriggly nightmare and will not lie on his back for love or money EVER

I changed him on his front whilst he was screaming the house down and I realised he had his open mouth on the changing table as if forgot to put our mat down arghhh

Will he get really sick? It was the grimmest changing room oh god

I caught my dc licking the edge of the rails that kept pigs and sheep in a pen. He's still alive.

Helenluvsrob · 12/06/2017 13:55

He'll be licking the buggy wheels before long! ( and if it's child 3 you'll probably let them carry on for longer than you should because at least they were quiet!()

He might get sick but likely he wont. Worrying wont change that, nor is their any intervention you can use so just wait and see.

DD brushed her hair with a toilet brush once.

Hahahah this thread is great Grin
He'll probably be okay op, my DD is exactly the same, she wants to lick EVERYTHING!? I'd never even thought about her getting ill tbh Confused oh well she hasn't so far!

MarzipanPiggy · 12/06/2017 14:26

liquidrevolution I just nearly spat out my tea. That's hilarious.

OP I think he will be fine. Build the immune system and all that. My youngest is obsessed with bins and can't resist given them a stroke on his way past. He's also a great one for dropping down on hands and knees with no notice and examining specks on dust on floors pretty much anywhere.

SocksBoatsAndQats · 12/06/2017 14:31

My children used to favour days old crumbs found on the floor rather than the loving home cooked meals I made them.

Youngest DS used to enjoy eating pebbles and sand at one stage.

GlitteryFluff · 12/06/2017 14:36

My DS has licked the floor of primark on more than one occasion. And their mirrors.
He looks at me a certain way and starts lowering himself. I stand there saying 'don't, do not lick the floor, DS please don't' and he gradually gets nearer the floor whilst not breaking eye contact. Then it happens.

I don't know why but it's only primark. Luckily we hardly go in there and he's never done it in any other shop.
It's so gross Envy

Fwend · 12/06/2017 14:50

I sobbed when PFB DD sat quietly munching a pile of dead woodlice.

By the second baby I'd be grateful for the protein.

Don't sweat it!

DistanceCall · 12/06/2017 15:38

Great way to build immunity!

Don't worry, OP, he'll be fine. Children are resilient little buggers Grin

DoJo · 12/06/2017 15:50

My oldest once managed to drag his hair on the floor in the men's loos at Kings Cross station and I was horrified! Since then, I often have to remind him not to dangle his hair into toilets as he pulls his pants up, and my youngest once licked nearly all the balls in a soft play ball pool and lived to tell the tale (although I shrieked 'For heaven's sake - don't lick communal balls' rather louder than I had intended to).

Spangles63 · 12/06/2017 17:26

Not the same thing but just as bad IMO,was something my DGD did when she was about 20 months old. My DD and her DH had been cleaning out the tropical fish tank and had dumped a load of filter sponges in the kitchen bin, then didn't close the lid on the bin properly. DGD came toddling along and picked up one of the sponges. You just know what I'm going to say happened next. Yep she shoved it in her mouth and had a good old suck on it. This filter was full of dirty water and fish shit..... DD panicked but there wasn't really much she could do. DGD was absolutely fine,no sickness,no diarrhoea, nothing. She's 10 now and reacted with a mixture of shock, disgust and thinking it was hilarious when we told her about it not long ago.

mortificado · 12/06/2017 17:33

Glittery GrinGrin that's brilliant!

Wanttobehonest · 12/06/2017 19:01

My DD used to love to lick things!
I would be walking around town and have to say things like "please don't lick the fence!" or a preventative "don't lick anything in this shop"

It is probably good for their immune system!?

Glittery the primark story is hilarious.

UnbornMortificado · 12/06/2017 19:03

I once caught DD1 with her tongue in the dogs mouth Envy she survived as did the dog.

leafleaflet · 12/06/2017 19:21

Cracking up at these tales!! The dead woodlice one....Shock

Kids are so gross!!!

IWillCrushYouLikeABug · 12/06/2017 19:25

My dc have eaten:

Their own poop.

A dead cockroach

Licked:

The cat

Random cars

The floor

Windows

Shoes

MrsPringles · 12/06/2017 19:28

Yeah I relaxed a bit when my then 7 month old licked the wheels of the buggy Confused

Kids are grim.

MrsPringles · 12/06/2017 19:30

And and when we were in the suit hire shop getting DH fitted for his wedding suit, he walked over to a random man who was just sat minding his own business and licked him. On the hand whilst staring at him.

That was embarrassing Blush

spiderlight · 12/06/2017 19:34

He'll be fine, OP. I feel your pain though! As soon as my DS learnt to crawl, his favourite pastime became speed-crawling the length of the kitchen to have a good old slurp out of the dogs' water bowl. He also liked chewing dog toys. I absolutely horrified a visitor when he was about 18 months old - her toddler dropped half a chocolate muffin and wandered off, and my reaction was to call through to DS 'There's some cake on the floor if you want it!' (Waste not, want not, right?). He has the immune system of an ox though - he's only had about two tummy bugs in ten years and he'd never even been to the GP until he was 9 1/2.

Anditstartsagain · 12/06/2017 19:39

Ds1 favoured finding random things to eat he would slowly chew looking at me until I came to fish it out then swallowed ds2 does the same and we are currenly missing a lego piece Shock

paddypants13 · 12/06/2017 19:45

My children lick supermarket trollies and have been caught licking/ kissing windows in shops too. I'm raising savages.

I also caught dd (4) pulling faces at a stranger in the supermarket today Blush. He pulled a face right back. Grin

EasterRobin · 12/06/2017 19:48

Mine likes to eat the sand in sandpits. Bleh! But she seems fine and probably has ever such clean, exfoliated insides.

user1492970817 · 12/06/2017 20:09

Oh OP believe me,he will lick a lot worse things than a changing table before he's 3 years old. My youngest tried eating a snail once,I love reminding him of it even though he is now 37.
