I feel terrible.

I was just in the bath with DD who was already feeling fragile as she got her first tooth today and has a cold. As I got out I laid her on this deck chair support thing she baths on. Somehow she slid right off it and was underwater on her back staring up at me. I had not even taken my eyes off her but it happened so fast and I was just reaching for me towel. I grabbed her out and she coughed out loads of water and went bright red. She did not cry though and was fine within 20 seconds. I have nowput her to bed but being a paranoid first time Mum I am afraid some water could have got on her lungs or something. I keep checking her and I feel scared to leave her. Am I being stupid??

She'll be fine don't worry

IntergalacticWalrus · 19/03/2007 19:07

She'll be fine. You are probably far more traumatised by the whole thing than her!

lulumama · 19/03/2007 19:08

she'll have coughed up any water she swallowed.....don't drive yourself mad ! i had one of those bath support things, i think they are really badly designed, DD slid off hers several times...did catch her though..but she has certainly had a few dunkings !!

gives you a horrid fright, but nothing to worry about . x

Thanks everyone . I know I am being neurotic. It was just so strange to look down and see her little eyes staring up at me from under the water.

It makes me feel better to know I am not the only one to subject their little one to a near drowning experience.

lulumama · 19/03/2007 19:19

Artichoke...must be the weather. My DD fell twice tonight in the bath. She is so determined to crawl in the bath while holding her toys! I'm sure your wee one will be fine and will have coughed out any water. Coughing is a good sign! Don't worry yourself about it as you say she was fine after 20 secs

The way I am feeling right now I think I might kit her out in a whole SCUBA outfit for her next wash Lulu .

Thanks Suzie. I guess it is just what happens. Scary though.
