Just take your time tried with my dd same age couple of weeks ago and loads of accidents tried again today and she done great no probs. Think main thing is to go with them and make the potty fun ie books/tv etc

I don't think 2 1/2 is too bad to be still in anppies but I guess if they're leaking.....
I;ve just started introducing my 2.1 DS to the potty and chose a potty chair as it's easier for them to get up and down from.
I take his nappy off before his bath and ask him if he'd like to do a wee on his potty (he had been waiting until he got into the bath then squirted it over DD (5), who quickly jumped out of the bath squealing!) He's very excited when he does it (he even squeezed out a poo the other night so he knows the need to sit and wait) and now I've started asking him to sit on the potty in the morning when I get him dressed too. I'm just going to leave at that for now. He's also happy to sit in poo all day too but now he is beginning to know when he does a wee/poo, he's getting more interested in the potty.

thanks for the advice, well i didnt think 2 1/2 was too bad but i cant stand the leaking nappies any more, and could do with her potty trained so she can have a place at pre-school in sept!!!

Hi - I am still potty training my dd1. She is 2 and a half too. I have been doing this since 17th February, so don't expect overnight success (which I did).

The potty chair is a good idea as my LO got pins and needles on the potty.

She finally did a poo on the potty today. She does a wee on the potty about once a day.

HV says not to worry as she is still quite young and I still put her in a nappy when out and about. It's all these "well meaning" people who ask if they're clean yet that put pressure on us poor mums and tots

Apparently a nursery cannot refuse to take a child on the basis that she is not potty trained. Check earlier threads and see.
