Baby referred to Audiology

Hi all, posting for support really..

My beautiful DS was born (via water birth) 7 days ago but midwife has referred him to audiology due to a 'no clear response' result on the clicky hearing test.

With my daughter this test wasn't done until she was about 4 weeks old.

Has anyone had any experience with this? Have you been and everything was fine? What was the reason?

Please reassure a worried mummy!

We had this with my 7 month old DD. We got ourselves really worked up that something would be wrong with her hearing, but it turned out that she just had water and other bits in her ears from birth.

Hope everything goes okay for you and DS. Flowers

I didn't make that very clear - she was about a week old when we had to take her to audiology, but 7 months now Smile

We had the same with our second and everything was fine, she passed the test in audiology. Her birth was quite fast and apparently fast births mean all the mucus doesn't get 'squeezed' out as effectively or something.Shock i was very anxious about the test at the time but it was totally fine.

Hi thanks for that. Yes, DS's birth was really fast and he is quite 'mucasy' at the moment.

Hopefully everything goes ok and I can stop worrying!

Motherhood brings such anxieties!
