Least bulky cloth nappies?

I've been using the LittleBloom/YellowBloom nappies on my son since he was a few weeks old and as long as I changed him every 2hrs (and used a disposable at night) they were absolutely fine with 1 microfibre insert. But around the 6 month mark they started leaking within 1-1.5hrs. I was changing his outfit with every nappy change! I've now added a bamboo insert but now they are either so tight they leave big deep red marks (and once actually cut his skin!) or so loose they are gaping at the legs. Also the extra bulk is restricting his movements, he can't grab hold of his toes like he can with 1 insert/disposable and he struggles to sit up unassisted.

He is such a slim baby (despite munching 45oz a day!) and I just can't get them to fit him right anymore. Are there any nappies are trim but still work? TIA! x

I use TJ's pockets with 2 bamboo inserts, also Bumbles (more bulky) with wraps and some Bambino Mio, I add a bamboo to these to increase absorbancy.

G nappies are slim.
2 bamboo in the pouch can work well.
