How do I add the rusk in the bottle ? Do I add the rusk in with the powder then add a little water and melt them then add more water ? Or do I just full the water all the way to the top then shake ? What's the ways some of you guys have done it :)

The doctor didn't say put the rusk in her bottle, from what you have copied and pasted the doctor had said to feed a rusk with her milk added to it, I.e from a bowl.

You have misread what the doctor has advised.

Blisss · 01/06/2017 15:23

The bottle teats are quite small holes anyway so a risk would clog it up or baby will just suck and suck and suck and hardly anything would come out. Always spoon feed any solids. Only ever feed milk or cooked boiled water from bottles

Badhairday1001 · 01/06/2017 15:31

I don't get why you would put it in to a bottle and not a bowl. I know you don't want to hear it but if she doesn't have a big appetite just feed little and often and make sure you are giving full fat food.

I know what the doctor has said so I do not understand why people are so onto from what a doctor has actually told me ? ... I am pregnant again yes 4and half months but what has my other threads got to do with this one ?

Justanothersingledoutnumber · 01/06/2017 16:33

I know what the doctor has said so I do not understand why people are so onto from what a doctor has actually told me

Because no doctor would say it. It's dangerous it can kill your child.

AssassinatedBeauty · 01/06/2017 16:41

Why did the doctor want to put your DD on a drip, and why did you refuse that and ask for two weeks to increase her weight by giving her water, vegetables and rusks? What weight centile is she on, or how much does she currently weigh? Is she very small? Has she been losing weight or just not putting it on very well?

lushbubble · 01/06/2017 17:00

It's even a sensitive matter tbh I'm tired n worried about my child and I have seeked help and clearly got the wrong advice of the health specialist I was referred too and now people are dragging in that I'm 17 n pregnant with my second it's not necessary really?

zeeboo · 01/06/2017 17:11

Still wondering why the OP is running two user names Hmm.

OP, IF a Dr told you to put rusk in a bottle of a post weaning age baby then you need to find a different Dr.
I think it is far more likely you misheard or misunderstood or are taking advice from a Granny whose Dr told her to do that back in 1960.

Rusks aren't even that fattening. I have known many people have to fatten up prem babies or those who are slow to gain weight and the advice is always more milk, more butter, more cheese.

lushbubble · 01/06/2017 17:15

No one is running two usernames

arbrighton · 01/06/2017 17:24

@lushbubble

Yes, you are, assuming you are the OP usernumberbladeblad

And the other threads re feeding your child at night/ wotsits etc ARE relevant

And you're not actually answering questions re centile etc

zeeboo · 01/06/2017 17:28

OP having found your old posts I think you really need to phone your health visitor and get some help.
You mention feeding the baby 'mashed potato and gravy' more than once. If this is packet mash and powdered gravy it is very dangerous. Your post about Whotsits showed that you don't seem to understand nutrition or how dangerous salt is for babies. You also mention feeding the baby rusks regularly, again, high in salt and sugar and no real nutritional value to speak of.
You also talk a lot about purees and haven't mentioned meat at all. At 8 months a baby shouldn't be eating pureed food and should have a varied and full diet including plenty of whole fat milk, cheese, meat or appropriate protein replacement if you are a vegetarian family.

Drips are given to provide fluids not nutrition so it really does seem you need some support in understanding how to keep your baby healthy and growing correctly.

zeeboo · 01/06/2017 17:30

It's this post that worries me OP. If this was the babies diet at sixth months and it was sleeping to 10am each morning it's no wonder it's failing to thrive now.

"She was a good sleeper n eater she was sleeping from 8pm till 10 am waking twice for milk during day she was having weetabix then milk then mashed potatoes with some Gravy then milk then milk again then some rusk mix then bath bottles bed now she is hardly eating just crying"

lushbubble · 01/06/2017 17:35

Stop writing on this now I'm not even reading this comments ...

arbrighton · 01/06/2017 17:38

So you're having a strop as we're trying to help you

Nice one. Very mature

AyeAmarok · 01/06/2017 17:41

17, a baby, pregnant again, wondering how you can jump the council house list, feeding a baby wotsits and rusks in a bottle...

Yeah, OK then.

AyeAmarok · 01/06/2017 17:42

Hey, OP, give the baby one of these Biscuit

Vinorosso74 · 01/06/2017 17:42

This thread is unreal.....

lushbubble · 01/06/2017 17:45

No one is having a strop I have a child to look after I've read enough... I understood what SOME people was saying until people started adding my age into how TF does my age have to do with anything or me trying to jump the housing list ... or any of my past post ???????? So I am not going to use mumsnet no more I'll go on another site as you guys keep dragging past threads onto this FRESH thread

PacificDogwod · 01/06/2017 17:46

Well, I am a rusk-in-bottle-at-6-weeks survivor, but then again I am also 51 and that practice is so outdated it is unreal Grin

If, IF, a doctor suggested this, they have serious learning needs

If, IF, you have concerns about weight gain, increase your baby's milk intake, increase fat and protein content of their diet. Don't given them sodding sugary biscuits!

FFS. Wanders off muttering darkly

PacificDogwod · 01/06/2017 17:48

lush, it is confusing when you keep changing your NN.

And other parenting sites are available, however IMO MN talks the most sense, sometimes robustly.
I hope you find help.

namechange20050 · 01/06/2017 17:51

If you're not a troll op I think you would be best to get some proper support from your health visitor or similar. It seems like you are struggling with the basic care of your child.,

zeeboo · 01/06/2017 17:54

It seems a pattern OP. You ask for help and then get defensive when people try and help. You say your age doesn't matter but you then act like a much younger teenager when you don't get the response you want.
I genuinely do hope social services get involved with your family because I think you really need someone to teach you how to parent in real life and not you asking on the internet.
Choosing to get pregnant within a few weeks of having your first child when you are clearly struggling with that first child is madness. Add to that, publicly admitting you are going to commit fraud by misrepresentation on the general housing register and hinting that you would be committing benefit fraud by leaving your benefits address and Drs address as your Mums after you'd moved in with your boyfriend and this is just a perfect storm of inappropriate.

Gileswithachainsaw · 01/06/2017 17:54

Rusks will not help her gain weight.

Use food. Fats oils cream. Nut butter avacado, cheese, full fat cream cheese.

The only thing that should go in a bottle is milk.

I can not believe for a second that instead of advising on diet, prescribing a higher calorie milk, or more milk in general they go straight for drip or rusk in a bottle.

Is this Dr Google?

Cos if it's a real life Dr he or she needs sacking

Know what else can cause weight loss? Death. From.choking.

Just dont.

ThisTime81 · 01/06/2017 17:57

I used to do this for DD at bedtime, full Rusk in with Milk and shake, there was a special teat for thicker liquids from Avent, she was around 9-12 months at the time I think but it was a few years ago now! (Back in the day when you weaned at 16wks with baby rice from 10!) Wink

PotteringAlong · 01/06/2017 17:57

lush by all means go elsewhere, but people are talking about past threads, not to confuse the issue but to give you the best help and advice that they can.

The rusks issue I'm sure you've got the message about BUT combined with the other posts about mashed potato and gravy and the fact that your baby was sleeping for 14 hours straight through and is now so dehydrated they're talking about a drip builds up a worrying picture. You need to look at your babies salt and sugar intake. Salt overdoses are real and can be dangerous.

You're 17 and homeless. So not living at home, so not got your mum / other family members around to ask their advice. And you're 17. I was 30, married and had my own house when I first had children and I was still terrified. I'd be a mess in your position. And that's not a criticism, it's an observation that most people feel the same and are trying to help.

Please take your baby back to the doctors tomorrow Flowers
