When to move rooms in nursery?

Hello, I am after some advice about nurseries. My DS is 18 months and is still in the 'baby' room of the nursery. He is the oldest out of 10 kids and I have noticed at least 6 of those are still under One.
I am unsure as to wether I should move him into a toddler room now (where he will be the youngest/smallest) or leave him in the baby room for now.
I guess I don't want to hold him back but I also think he is so young do I need to disrupt him?
He is fully mobile, talking and using a spoon.
He does seem to enjoy helping to feed the babies but I don't want him to be socially behind!
Any inside or help will be greatly appreciated!

Does nursery not have a schedule for moving children through rooms? The one my dc attended (youngest only left last year) kept them in Baby Room until they were about 3, and tried to have the in the pre-school room for a whole year, or 2 terms for summer borns. children moved between the other rooms accordingly.

Why don't you ask the nursery?

It's a tough one.
In my DD's nursery they were meant to stay in baby bit until 2. DD started at 20 months, spent one day in baby group then they moved her up. She could hold a conversation and was very old headed. They said she would be bored in with the babies.

What kind of policies does your nursery have for moving children through rooms?

E.g. In the nursery we use, children are in the baby room until confidently walking - usually around 18 months, but there's not a specific set age.
They're then in the toddler room until they turn 3.
They move up to the pre-school room on their 3rd birthday, and stay there until they leave for Reception.

It's probably a good idea to ask your nursery how they normally do room moves.

I'm in the same situation at the moment, my DS (19months) is one of the oldest in the baby room. The nursery have already mentioned moving him up soon and transitioning him to toddler room.

Our key worker has mentioned that there are more activities and developmental stuff in the toddler room, so generally I'm quite happy about it. My plan is to keep a closer eye on him when he transitions and just ask loads of questions about how he's settling in and behaviour etc.

Speak to the nursery. My dd started nursery at 9 months and her cousin who was 2 months older started a couple of weeks after. They put my neice straight into the toddler room but dd stayed in the baby room. It was partly due to numbers in the toddler room and partly because dd got on so well in the baby room they didn't want to move her. I wouldn't worry tbh.

Ds's had 3 rooms so was supposed to move from baby to toddler room age 18-24 months, usually in age order when a vacancy in toddler room came up (obviously lots each Sept when the whole preschool room got replaced), but when ds was due he was still terrified of larger children so he stayed in the younger room for a few more months while someone else was promoted. But they were a very flexible place so he and dd both got to spend some hours a few times a week in the next room before permanent moves.

With a full nursery it's almost all about numbers. It was a huge surprise when ds was promoted to preschool immediately he turned 3 as usually it was only for kids in their year before school, simply because of the restriction on numbers. It just so happened there was a place and they thought he'd get on well there despite being the youngest and smallest - which he did, and two years to learn how to deal with 3-4yos really worked for him.

I guess it varies from place to place so you'll need to check their policy. I'm sure they won't mind you just chatting to them about it.

Dd moved up at about 13 months as she was confidently running about. Her friend who is 2 days older took a further 6 months to move up as she wasn't walking.

I know at our nursery they have to have a vacancy in the toddler room before a baby can move up so that their ratios continue to work.
