Jumperoos - worth the money? Which one?

I have a 4 and a half month old DD and have been looking at Jumperoos. Are they worth the money and which one would you recommend?

I was originally looking at the Fisher Price for Roaring Rainforest one but then found the Disney Finding Nemo one and it looks like it has more toys around the edge.

I also found the Baby Einstein Activity Jumper which is cheaper (I've found it for £49.99). It looks good but says for 6 months but I can't see it's much different to the others apart from the shape of the stand.

Try your baby in one before you shell out. They might hate it (DD did). They're also fucking massive.

Oh DD loved hers - we had the rainforest one though it was a while ago so it might be a bit different. We did buy it new and it seemed a little bit like a waste of money as we only used it for a couple of months but then I sold it for what I'd paid for it.

Second hand rainforest one - DS loved it! Just make sure you change the seat position so it's the right height. Will def be getting another for DC2 (had to sell last one on as they are massive)

Absolutely worth it! We bought second hand, but would have been worth it even at full price.

My DD cried when I put her in for the first time (probably as I lacked the knack of getting her in smoothly/quickly), but the next time was quite content. It took a few sessions before she discovered the pure joy of it!

I've found during DD's first year that the fisher price stuff might be a bit gaudy, but they know what they're doing and babies love their stuff. Go with the rainforest jumperoo.

I like to buy everything new, but this is definitely something that is best bought second hand. It's useful for about 3-5 months IF your child likes it. Also, the original FP jungle one had better reviews than the second version. My DC thinks it's okay - I was hoping they would absolutely love it so was a little disappointed

Rainforest jumperoo - we got ours second hand. DS1 was absolutely mad for it, face lit up every time, but his cousin was very lukewarm about it. Now DS2 nearly 5 months, big baby so tried him in it the other day and he was very meh about the whole thing - I'd be pretty disappointed if I'd just bought it for him! So do try someone's if you can. And second hand is totally fine. The material comes off, you can wash it.

We had the rainforest jumperoo. You can get them second hand on gumtree quite easily. We used it from about 5 months until 9 months. Once they start moving they don't really like it as much but during those months it was amazingly useful as he's bounce it in for ages

On balance (2 DC), I'd say they were pretty rubbish. They're not that exciting. I used it a lot with DS1 but only for 5 minutes at a time, then DS2 inherited it and was quite unimpressed. I replaced it with the Christmas tree when he was about 6mo.

Give him a cupboard full of toxic chemicals under the sink, however, and he'll have a field day...

Got a second hand FP rainforest jumperoo and it lives in the kitchen and allows me to get dinner on, clean up after meals etc. I don't know how I'd cope without it! Like others have said, takes a bit of them getting used to being put in it and mine cried a bit at first but I'm glad I persevered. My toddler loves putting the music on and dancing in front of it while my baby jumps, very cute!

Try one out first. DS enjoyed it but DD hated it and was much happier playing on the floor.

Both kids were in bed the other night and I was washing up and actually found myself singing the jumperoo tune, it's like I can't now work in the kitchen without it!

Depends on the child, my first loved it, was always in it and was the best baby purchase I made. But my second has barely been in it (probably too much going on around!). But definitely for my first it was a lifesaver as baby was super happy in it and I could have a few hands free moments to get on with something ( whilst watching ) or even shower as we could fit it in the bathroom.

My dd wasn't too fussed about it and like others have said its huge!!! Much prefered the door bouncer and could move them to each room with us ☺

Yep second hand rainforest. Four and a half months might be a bit early unless he's quite tall, even in lowest setting dd didn't touch the floor at that age (I put a cushion under it though!)

Dc1 loved it, totally worth the money. Dc2 didn't love it as much, so I'd have been disappointed if us bought it new just for him. I've just put mine on gumtree for £30, there are loads on there!

Reading above I guess it would very much depend on your dc. Dd1 loved it at 4.5 months, started to crawl at 6 months, no longer interested. Thankfully we borrowed it off a friend. Didn't get one for dd2, not really worth it for the short amount of time it would be used for.

Thanks everyone. I found one for sale on Facebook, 6 months old and £25! So going to get it tomorrow and if my DD doesn't like it I'll sell it on.

DD took a little while to warm up to hers (got it at 5 months) Now she is 9 months and absolutely loves it! It's a useful place to leave her for a bit to have a shower etc. knowing she is safe. We've got the roaring rainforest one and so have most of our friends.

Not something I agree with personally (I don't like the idea of them being 'forced' or 'made' to try and be upright when they're not ready to be.
Same with door bouncers and walkers.
So I'd never ever get one.
But I know a lot of people like them.
