UmiZoomies aren't real?

My D'S (4) is obsessed with UmiZoomies. (For those not in the know, they're animated cartoon creatures which help 'real' ie. non animated children by completing maths-type quests etc etc.) DS keeps asking me to go and see the UmiZoomies because he wants to 'hold them' and 'be their friend'. Someone told him they live in America so now he badgers me every day to 'find a plane to go there'. I have tried to explain that they're not real, just a TV show but he just looks at me all Confused and redoubles his Please Mummy routine. Anyone have a good and not cruel way to try and get through to him??

Or has anyone else's DC had any similar bizarre difficulties distinguishing reality from TV shows?!

Can he not just believe they're real?

Father Christmas and the toothbrush fairy aren't real too but we go along with those....
