Grandparent

I'm just wondering I have a step grandad and i call him by his real name I have never in my 24 years called him grandad but my 4 year old can't say his name should I allow him to call him grandad or will I just be confusing him as he would be a step great grandad ???

I call my step mum by her name but she's Nanna to my DD which is lovely. I'd go with grandad and not even worry about it.

You won't confuse your son.

It's not about biological closeness, it's about the role that individual plays in the child's life.

Some children just have one (or no) grandparent, others have 6 or 7 (with remarriage a and great grandparents).

If your step grandfather is happy with being grandad, don't over complicate it for your child.
