Child benefit

I'm due to register my little one on Monday, and get her birth certificate was just going to get the short one, can this be used for the benefits claim? And how long does it take to come through the £80 per month

you can use the short certificate to apply for child benefit but you will need the long certificate for other things eg applying for passport and registering with gp do worthwhile paying the £4 for a long version.
