Unauthorised absence

So due to DH's special birthday we decided to take a long weekend and take my Yr 2 child out of school for 2 days. He otherwise has 100% attendance this year and 98% for yr 1 and reception. Academically he is doing really well. It is not in SATS week.

We informed the school and were honest about the reason why. I said I accepted the consequences (possible fine).

The deputy head teacher wants to have a meeting about this. I'm failing to understand why. I don't need to be told I shouldn't take unauthorised absence and that it can affect DSs life chances etc (at 6!). Is it standard protocol? What if I ignore the request?

Thanks

'I said I accepted the consequences (possible fine)'

The consequence is a meeting with the headteacher, where she will probably tell you all the stuff re. life chances etc. and possibly start the ball rolling on a fine. Accept it, like you said you would.
