Wraps look really big??

I've got some bimbles and diddy diapers and small rikki and ME wraps but I was practicising on a toy rabbit last night (don't pretend you haven't done it...) to see how they look and while the nappies themselves seem pretty small and compact it is actually the wraps that seem big.
The bimbles are pretty teeny anyway, I know, but I've got hold of a size 1 wbb to try out aswell and the wraps even look big over that. It's all well and good having a nice compact nappy but if the wrap is huge isn't it going to add bulk?? Looks like they're going to come up to just under his nipples (the baby, not the rabbit )
Is this normal?

The airflows do give a more baggy fit, but the rikkis should be a fairly neat snug one... wraps can be harder to tell on bunnies though

Yes, well that could be a factor. I am kind of hoping he doesn't come out too similarly shaped to the bunny who is very pear shaped indeed.

Maveta

The rikki will be the best fit at the beginning - it fits from 6lbs - the cloth nappies will seem big compared to disps - but they will fit him and wraps don't really add much to the bulk as you would think. My nappies and wraps come up under my bunnies ears

I used air rikas on my ds1 and ds2 from birth no problem but can see why you would think they would look big - the air does squish out though once clothes are on. I prefer air rikas when they get bigger as you can adjust the tummy and legs

If you want smaller wraps try an eenee snib.

ears - meant armpits!

maveta · 12/03/2007 16:41

LOL octo - thanks.. I think they look particularly big because the girl I bought the bimbles from sent me a bambino mio wrap with them and it's teeeeny tiny so now the rikki looks huge where it didn't before.

Won't be too much longer before I can see what they all look like on the wee man himself.

maveta - what kind of bm wrap is it as the mio lites are the only ones really designed for shaped nappies - the soft and ultra are for prefolds really alothough may fit over a shaped one on a newborn - sorry to confuse further

maveta · 12/03/2007 19:15

Doesn´t say.. just says ´bambino mio newborn´..

..so the plot thickens, ey?

It maybe worth your while picking up a few newborn wraps on ebay depending on what size baby you are likely to have, there are alot of Cotton Bottoms newborn going cheap on there at the mo (new or barely used), you can usually pick them up for £2 odd.

The Prorap newborn is handy too, it has an umbilical cutaway at the front.

Flamesparrow · 12/03/2007 20:10

I have a couple of diddy cotton bottoms(?) - barely used here if you want them for postage

Just email me bumfluffnappies at gmail dot com

maisiemog · 12/03/2007 20:49

I third the cotton bottoms newborn wraps. They fit even the silliest of chicken legs and were the only wraps I could put on my 3 week early - 5.5lb DS without them covering his face as well as the nappy.

octopussyintummy · 12/03/2007 22:20

Do they have a dip at the front and wide velcro with little poppers on them? If so they are lites. If they are really soft cotton fabric (with or without pattern) with no poppers they are a mio soft and if neither of these likely to be ultra!

I haven't used cotton bottom wraps so couldn;t comment on those but if flame etc says they are good then may be worth a go

maveta · 13/03/2007 08:38

Thanks flame, I´ve emailed you..your marketing technique is quite something (you´ll see what I mean from my email!)

LOL maisiemog I don´t think this one is even predicted to be particularly small but it can´t hurt to have a couple of newborn wraps just in case I guess.

Octo - looks like they are mio soft.. but I guess the girl sent them with the nappies because she used them? Oh well, it was a freebie anyway so no harm done if I can´t use it and might work fine over terries or muslins anyway.
