Ewan the sheep?.

Does anyone one find that Ewan the dream sheep battery's don't last very long?its great at soothing my baby too sleep not so great when the battery's start to run out

Yep! I emailed them about it actually- apparently they expect it to be used twice a day (1 daytime nap and bedtime). Based on that, we massively overuse ours!

Have you turned the light off? That should help.

We over use ours too...only started using the light a couple of times this week so that's probably why. I use it when I put lo down after his bottle aswell as night time...

Agh that sinking feeling when you realise his batteries are going and you don't know if you have any in the house...
In the dark days (DD1 was a god awful sleeper) it felt like we were always replacing them. Now they both sleep semi decently it does generally get used twice a day (and maybe again in the middle of the night) and we haven't had to replace them for a long time.

We've never used the light on ours.

I know when u put it on in the sounds only last a few mins...hope I have some in the kitchen draw!. My lo is nearly 6 weeks old and have only had to replace battery's 2 times, he's generally a good sleeper I just like it to send him to sleep

Twice in 6 weeks sounds quite a lot though, I don't think we've changed them for about 3 months.

I don't use the light which I think massively helps. And Duracell batteries definitely last longer than crappy supermarket pen brand

If the sound stops after a short while are you putting it on the trial setting? Probably a stupid question but when the batteries start going on ours the sound goes really slow and weird, it doesn't stop.

Agree twice in 6 weeks is a lot. We've only changed ours once and DS is 17 weeks. And I'm pretty sure the original batteries in it weren't fully charged.

Yeah, ours sounds like Ewan has been on the wine rather than it stopping.

Could you use rechargeable batteries? We ditched the sheep after a few weeks as DD2 was a very sleepy baby. But we found it ran through batteries really fast. 2 sets of rechargeables and a charger will probably be cheaper in the long run.

No it's defiantly on the normal setting, when it stopped after a few mins I double checked just to make sure. Hope it's not a faulty Ewan

We have the Cloud B sleep sheep. In five year, two kids, used every night, we've changed the batteries twice.

We used rechargeable ones, with a pair charged and ready to go at all times.

We found the first lot of batteries lasted a good few weeks then after that it seemed to eat them! Ewan is only used once a day so far and that's bed time as DS naps downstairs with me during the day.
When he does need his batteries changing it just doesn't last very long, it doesn't seem to slow down or make him sound drunk! 😅

I am in complete agreement with OP, our Ewan eats batteries. It's one of the few baby things I bought new and really irritates me. Thinking of putting it on eBay tbh. I don't use the lights but it hardly seems to last any time at all. Even with full batteries, I don't think it plays for long enough. Loads of people recommended the stupid sheep but I'm not a fan.

It plays for 20 mins which is perfect for us now they're older (just long enough for them both to drop off) but when they were tiny I felt like I was constantly pressing it! I always wished it had a remote control so I could switch it on from another room!
Love our Ewan but only because my DC has developed strong sleep associations with it and will always drop off to him.

Really? I don't think ours has ever gone as long as 20 minutes, I'm going to have to experiment with him now...

This is one of the few times my other half's obsessions with remote control toys has come in useful - he's adapted both children's ewans (older has a purple and we got a grey for younger one) to run on super duper rechargeable lithium batteries and I can't remember when they last needed changing... ;-)

I've been using Ewan 5-6 times a night with the light on for the last 2 weeks and it's just stopped working. I thought it must be broken but reading this thread I'm guessing he batteries have just run out already

Time to have a dig through the cupboards for some fresh ones!

Our Ewan eats batteries too. We also have a 'whisbear' which is a dog shaped Ewan but without the light but with a sensor! And it doesn't eat batteries! If the baby cries when on sensor mode the white noise comes on. Amazing! Wish I hadn't wasted money on the Ewan. I don't work for whisbear btw! We also own a clip on standard white noise machine yes I buy anything if I think it might help sleep from Amazon that I use when I know there will be constant noise e.g. Fireworks night so I can leave it on for a few hours at a time. I've used that many many hours (over 100 I'd guess) and only recently had to change the batteries. That shows how shit the Ewan's are for batteries.

Bloody loved Ewan! Also then loved rechargeable batteries as ours was very well used. I still like the twinkly music.

Ds was seriously terrified of Ewan, he used to scream when it came anywhere near him. He finally took to the damn thing aged about 2 and named it "baa baa noise" So batteries for us lasted months(!)
He liked Frankie Frog though which had a pretty light show.
