Toilet training disaster!!

I have posted this in potty training but wasnt sure if this got more views here? My DS4 has been toilet training since July last year! He got wees almost immediately but poos a completely different matter! I am cleaning his pants out almost every day sometimes more than once! A few weeks ago it seemed to click whilst at home and he started to tell me that he needed a poo and would go on potty! This happened a few times but never outside the house or at nursery!! Past few days; he has gotten worse and been having wee accidents as well! What is happening and where am i going wrong! Completely stressing out as he starts school in September and ideally needs to be clean when he goes!! Does anyone have any advice or success stories!!

Have you read this book? It's not a how to, although it does give some good tips. It gave me faith with mine

Have you tried just taking him to toilet and insisting he try even if he says he doesn't need? Both of my kids have been very easy pottery training for day and night. But I alway make sure to put them on toilet at key times. For example when they wake, after they eat, before we got out and before bed. They rarely every say when they need to go . Well, they do but it's always last minute. They prefer to play etc and toilet is last thing so they will dance around and avoid toilet if I let them. They never have accidents. But I think it helps that I insist they try even if they insist they don't need. Almost always they wee or even poo! If you haven't, try insisting he sit on toilet, after he wakes, after morning snack, after lunch, after snack, after dinner and before bed. A lot I know, but this is what I did when we first potty trained and my kids never had accidents. It was rare. My daughter was trained straight away. It took my son two days to get it, but then he was trained day and over night straight away. As they got older, I'm more relaxed. But I do still insist they sit on toilet a few times a day.
