He has gone to bed wearingthe following, all squeezed under a LoveBums wrap:

1 Bum Hugger, size L
1 MEOS with pop-in
1 Tots size 3
1 Terry square

They are layered, in that order. He looks like John Wayne and I know by 1/2am his bed will be wet.

well, it's possible that you've got too much on him. Especially if the wrap is very tight over it, which i'd imagine it is.
it'll all get compressed and won't soak anything up. hence the leaks

Spidermama · 08/03/2007 22:06

Lady, how old is he? My ds has started doing enormous quantities of wee in the night. He didn't used to but this has been going on for a few months now. Some people have suggested food intolerances. Is he drinking loads too?

fruitful · 08/03/2007 22:08

I had this problem and some lovely MNetters suggested using wool wraps. Don't know if a LoveBums is or not. The wool lets some of the moisture evaporate (slowly, not damply!) so less in the nappy. It did work for us but I ended up with a really smelly wool wrap. Plus he kept doing hideous escapist poos on waking so I ended up handwashing the wool wrap daily which was not the plan!

Now he wears Pampers at night . Couldn't even use cheap disposables, he weed so much he had crystals on his bum in the morning.

have you tried a wool wrap, they are meant to be good for heavy wetters.... although they do wick a little so you will probably stil have damp pj's.
Can you limit his evening drinks or have you tried it already.
Weenies also do a bio degradable insert that i have tried (i got some free samples) that seemed really absorbant.
Also agree with hairymclary's comment as well.

makesachange · 08/03/2007 22:19

Sorry, Lady, I've forgotten how old he is

LadyOfTheFlowers · 08/03/2007 22:38

he is 20m.
the wrap poppers up easily, i dont struggle to get it on.
i have wool wraps coming from all directions, some coming from australia even from bloss, but none have arrived yet.
he has one bottle when he goes up.

I would try fewer layers, but something more absorbant. Perhaps some microfibre and hemp?
perhaps you could limit drinks after 5pm?

juuule · 08/03/2007 22:40

I'm presuming it's your 18mo. I think you've got too much on him. I haven't had any leaks even with a 3yo in Tots Bots with a Motherease airflow wrap. I would say that if you are getting leaks through that lot that you've got on him then the wrap isn't handling things well. Try just one of the nappies and a well fitting wrap. Make sure that all the nappy is inside the wrap otherwise it will leak.
Can he sleep padded up like that?

makesachange · 08/03/2007 22:43

Lady - at the risk of sounding utterly samey - have you tried bamboo?

Would you like to trial a Bambineo? What boosters do you have?

LadyOfTheFlowers · 09/03/2007 09:02

makesachange- i will try anthing! lol

actually last night, with that killer combo, he went all night and a dry bed this morning. the tots was not totally soaked either.

he can sleep -lol- he can even get up the stairs if he concentrates!

skyler has sent me some wool wraps, a couple of lovely wahm ones and a stacinator to try.

Lady, you're welcome to try one.

I use:

1 x Bambineo (or WBB) with its booster
1 or 2 x additional bamboo boosters
1 x Swaddlebees microterry booster folded in half, forwards (for a boy) (any MT booster will do - they're slim and absorbant, and soft, and I put them on top of the nappy UNDER the boosters so there's no artificial fabric against the skin)
1 x fleece liner
Tots Bots fleece wrap or wool wrap

for my 2.6yr old V heavy wetter. Nappy is v wet in morning but it doesn't leak and his skin is dry. It's quite bulky but not too bad.

I can lend you to try a Bambineo (used once as a trial nappy) and if you need them a couple of bamboo boosters (my own really old ones as all my trial ones are booked out for a few weeks) all professionally cleaned of course!!!

I don't trial microterry boosters as they go really manky and I don't feel it's nice not to have a new one, but if you've got something similar that's fine.

If you want to borrow them, email me.

Lady - you can email me via the website. I avoid listing my email address on here as it gets harvested by spammers even with the name @ whatever dot com business

Flamesparrow · 11/03/2007 12:04

pmsl @ TMMJ and her pampers

Dragonhart · 11/03/2007 12:15

My 19month DS is a very heavy wetter, and I use the wambamboos/bambineo (am I right in saying that they are the same?!) and a bamboo terry folded up, all at the front, so there are an extra 8 layers of bamboo terry at the front. The nappy is sodden in the morning but doesnt leak.

I use a motherease airflow over it all.

makesachange · 11/03/2007 17:30

Dragon, sort of right. The changes between the WBB and BNEOs are that BNEOs have:

  • a loftier fabric which is softer and more absorbant than the WBB
  • More elastic to fit a bigger toddler while still fitting well on a small baby
  • A longer booster, again for more absorbancy
  • Upgraded velcro to premium YKK velcro which is SUPPOSED to not curl like aplix does.

I think that your set-up sounds excellent. Probably the same sort of number of layers as I have, really. Lady - what boosters do you have? I'll send you what I can spare from my collection but we're a bit booked out with RNW promotions...
