Play date - stay or go

Hi

Help solve a debate with me.

If a kid is invited to a play date would you expect the parent to stay to?

Kids are just 4. I don't really know the other parent - the kids just get on really well at nursery and both were upset when one couldn't come to the others birthday party so we've arranged a play date instead.

I don't really mind either way. Play date is at mine. Just curious what you'd expect as I'm getting differing answers from other friends/parents.

At 4, with parents I didn't know I'd stay the first time.

I would stay at that age if your not sure at least offer her a coffee and see how she reacts.
I remember once having one kids a bit older new mum quite well through play group school. Wasn't sure got organised cleaner house got nice coffee in and biscuits. Mum came to door with him I said to them both hi come in. She quickly said oh I'm just dropping him off here I'm going to spend some time having coffee with my friends.
