When your LOs were small babies/or if your LOs are still small babies, did you pass them around and let visitors hold them? Must admit we were always very free and easy with DS, who is now a v.friendly little 21 month old. We visited a friend today who has just had her second ds(3 weeks old) and she held on to him all the time we were there. Just wondered what everyone else did/does really. Yes, I am nosey

I passed mine around and I think it worked out well. I think its the reason she is so sociable.

i passed mine round quite a lot, but there was a limit like if we had hundred of visitors one day or if it was a nap time.

i think you were v restrained...if a friend of mine had been round with a 3 week old in her arms i'd have said "can I have a cuddle?" or similar...

i can't help myself they're so adorable

my baby is a petite 24 weeks but good friend and SIL have both now got newborns and it's already hard to remember dd being so teeny...next to them she looks ENORMOUS!

We were always pleased for the break! My friends still laugh aboutt my MIL hogging my DD at a party we had shortly after she was born though - if anyone came up to say hi or look at the baby she'd step backwards with a look of terror!

I always passed dd about was delighted at showing her off. BUT she was happy to be passed around, very settled and if she was alseep nothing was waking her, DS however was not so settled as a baby and I tended to keep a hold of him myself because he would wake up and become upset when he was passed around. It was not because I wanted to keep a hold of him in fact I would have loved to hand him over more often.

If anyone asked for a cuddle I would explain maybe not at that time or hand him over but explain that he was not very settled etc.
