Just looking for support. My DD2 off nursery today struck down with this cold / throat bug. Should be in work today seems they always get ill when i should be in work. I only do three days !She had it all week and i just know my DS 4will get it too. Why do we always feel so bloody guilty ? I know they come first but can already hear colleagues calling me behind my back!

Support for you
Only work 3 days aweek also, my dd2 has been off all week, i have had to take annual leave.Determined not to feel guilty, would feel a lot worse if i couldn't be with dd!
Hope your dd2 gets better soon!

Sod em I say. But having said that I've not had to deal with this one yet, and I'll probably feel just as guilty as you when I do. What do they expect you to do fgs?! Anyway, you're either taking unpaid leave or using up your holiday so it's not like you're getting anything out of it.

Well said Twinklemegan....Sod em

Hi Lilyloo Also hate being off when DC ill. Had a bad winter sofar. DD got chest infec(needed steriods) for 1wk, immediately followed by DS getting impetigo and off 1wk. Then after Xmas both got flu thing one after the other so 2wks off (I had it aswell so took some holiday and some sick). Then the day we went back to work noticed dubious red patch on DD's chest covered her up and sent her in hoping it was just excema but got the call from nursery querieing impetigo so further 1 week off (unpaid leave). Thankfully everyone at work has been v understanding (to my face anyway) but got pissed off when my sister (no kids) commented on how nice it must be to have so much time off and how annoyed she would be if she worked with me! WTF am I supposed to do?

alcyone · 02/03/2007 15:34

Thanks Lilyloo' mine went back today too.
Not sure i should this AM
but apparently been fine.
Heres hoping we all get a clear run of good health!

alcyone · 02/03/2007 15:36

Oh, and i did wake up with a sore throat this AM..........

LilyLoo · 02/03/2007 18:32

As i thought DS is now crying feels ill here we go for another week. Thank God for the weekend but already thinking about what i am going to do with him Monday. Let's hope lot's of Calpol clears it up quickly not holding out much hope. To top it off DP got it but it is obviously ten times worse (man flu)! Guess we just have to get on with it Alcyone if we get it!

Could your dh have time off for the next round, if your ds doesn't recover by Monday? If he's not feeling well himself iy may be a way of getting round more time off work?

LilyLoo · 02/03/2007 18:49

Unfortunately he just started new business so not really an option for a day off unless he gets any worse by then ! Which he doubts as is officially dying at this point!

pooka · 03/03/2007 18:36

Oh of course it's much worse than anything you've ever had!

LilyLoo · 03/03/2007 21:49

Maybe a new thread why do men always get the worst bugs going ?
