Tripped over with DS

Feeling absolutely awful: went on a walk with 4 week old DS in the sling. About 5 min from home and managed to trip up twice! Ankle just went both times.

DS was fine - didn't even notice but I felt so bad. DH was very angry with me and swore. He's banned me from using the sling again.

Anyone else done this? Feel so clumsy.

I fell over with DD when she was 3.
I slipped off a high kerb and fell into the road. Luckily I managed to sort of twist myself and land with the full force ointo my back and keep DD in the air so she didn't get hurt.
My GF didn't get angry, swear, ban me from anything. She rushed to check on DD and I to make sure we were OK. DD cried, but was absolutely fine. I'm still in pain from it 7months later but Id rather me be hurt than DD.

Your DH's reaction was horrible. That said, I can't understand this fixation with slings and carrying babies and toddlers around all the time. Better for everyone if DC is comfortable and snug in a buggy. Is it a yummy mummy thing?

No Hmm It's a practical and quick option that can keep babies much more snug than in a pram. Women have been carrying babies in slings for centuries. I use both but there are times when the sling is a far better option.

Well llangennith my DD hated the carrycot and screamed incessantly almost every time she was laid flat in the pram, whereas she loved being held snug close to me, as she got bigger she loved her high up vantage point, and the sling made a lot of places accessible in a way they aren't with a buggy. So yeah, yummy mummy Hmm
