As a flipside to the 'only children' thread - Why do virtual strangers suggest vasectomy/sterilisation to parents of four or more?

I read somewhere recently that 'four is the new three' and that five is 'just a bit weird.'

Since we've had DC4 Mr Bubble and I have both had people asking us if we're going to get 'chopped.'

Charming.

Quite apart from it being nobody else's bloody business - why do people assume that 'weirdos' with 4 couldn't possibly want to have more children?

I was asked at my 6 week check with DD (no. 3, not 4, 5 or 6!) about whether I would consider sterilisation or whether DH would go for the snip. I was a bit shocked tbh, it was right out of the blue really.

I think it's becuase people have to have something to say.

It's like that old chestnut "oh, you'll be wanting a girl next" I hear all the time.

No, I reply, because girls are bitches. I am punching you as I say this. See?
