Small Age Gap?

Hi there

I'm wondering if there is anyone else out there with a small age gap.

I have DD who is 10 months old and I had my DS the day before her 10 month 'birthday'. He was 8 weeks premmie. He is 3 wks today and joined us at home last wednesday.

I also have a 5yr old DS.

I'm just looking to speak to others with a small age gap to get some tips on how to get into a routine as DP returns to work next Monday and I am petrified.

Thanks a lot
Ann-Marie x

Mine aren't that close - 14 months between my two little ones, with a teenager as well. All I can tell you is that you WILL cope. And, the only way to get into a routine that suits your family is to try it and see.

I found that the most difficult bits were when the older one wanted to play when the baby needed feeding at the same time and when they both wanted to cuddle with mummy. You get used to having a child on each arm.

It does get easier.

Look forward to the day when they play really nicely together - and they will because they are so close in age.

We also missed out on any jealousy because the older one was too young to realise what was going on.

I have a 2 year gap so I may not be much use to you - I would say make sure you have a good buggy that holds both well, I do lots of walking - my older one is able to understand he is a baby (most of the time)tho. I had lots of worries about not coping as I was working 4 full days and then took older one out of nursery as moved area so went from having 1 child 3 days a week to 2 full time - a bit of a shock but soon got into a routine - you will be fine x

I have 11 months between my 2 and having a routine really does help although for the first few months there is a lot of juggling it does settle down. What is your routine at the moment? and are you BF? don't worry you will get used to it! x
