Birthmarks

My baby has a small strawberry birthmark on her head. I've read online that they get bigger but there doesn't seem to be any indication of how big. Do they spread outwards or upwards?

Has anyone got any experience of these?

I think they're all different, but DD had one on her head too, which grew to about the size of a 20p coin and was probably about 5mm raised. It grew until she was about 6 months, then started shrinking when she was about a year old, by which point it was under her hair anyway. She's now 3 and it's virtually disappeared.

My dd developed hers on her chin a few weeks after birth and it grew quickly but only to about 2mm wide. It did raise as well but not very high. She is nearly 11months now and it is fading, to start it was really red abs now it's more pinky. It's also less raised. The GP and google have assured me it will disappear by the time she is 5, possibly before.

I was stupidly really sad when she first got it but now I'll miss it when it's gone as it's just part of her. I'd never really heard of them before but now dd has one I seem to see loads of baby girls with them.

DS1 had one on his arm, it didn't really seem to grow just got a bit bigger as his arm grew. By the time he was 3 it was gone completely.

my daughter had one on her head. it did grow and became raised. was quite big I'd say as big as 2p piece. her hair then started to conceal it and it had shrunk down by aged 2 I think maybe earlier

Dd2 has one on her forehead, about the size of a raspberry. It grew until she was about one and now at three it's shrunk down and is lots paler and barely visible.
