6 week old baby

Please could somebody advise roughly how much feed (ff) your baby takes per feed and how many feeds a day on average?
First timer here so just curious

We moved for ff at abou the time and feeds varying hugely.

Just fed on demand as long as baby weight is fine and they there nappies are OK it is all going well.

Start with 4oz a feed when they ask for it, there should always be some milk left in the bottle so if they drain it, next time offer 5oz and keep increasing until there's always something left.

After a few weeks you'll get into a routine with number of feeds can't remember how many we were doing at 6 weeks sorry!

Don't worry if they don't always take the full bottle somedays they are hungrier than others

I found the easy routine really good.
Eat - baby has milk
A -activity, when very little this would be a nappy change and a song
S- baby sleeps
Y- you time, that bit never worked for me!

And then repeat.

He takes between 4/5oz each time and has gained 3lb since birth, 6 week check has been done and all is well but just wanted assurance/any support from other parents rather than gp saying he is ticking the boxes 🙄

Babies are all so different and they change what they do so often by 4 months by DD waa having 1/2 oz of milk for breakfast but having 10oz for each night feed

Just to say that Heir's suggestion, whilst it works for some, isn't based on any evidence. It's from the Bany Whisperer and is just the authors opinion so don't feel bad if you can't get your baby to do it

Definitely, all routines are only good if your baby wants to do them.

If you are after a routine that suits you both, I'd highly recommend Babycalming by Caroline Deacon. Unlike lots of other baby books, this one is actually based on evidence and it works no matter how you feed your baby.

As for feeding as long as baby is getting what they need, roughly 2.5 floz per pound of weight in 24 hours, anything goes. Whether it's big bottles every few hours or smaller bottles more frequently. Your baby will know what suits them best
