Sleep training

My DS is 13 months and wakes hourly in the night, he's been like this since he was 12 weeks old. He is reliant on milk to go back to sleep, so on the advice of my HV I have watered it down to almost water, and offered water too and reducing the amount I give each time. Water sends him into hysterics. I am so tired, and looking for advice from anyone who has been able to help their DC sleep through the night.

Hi Womble, it sounds exhausting.

If I were you I would stop offering drinks full stop during the night and take a firm stance on it.

I sleep trained at 10 months because I was pretty much in a similar situation to you. I used night weaning and CC and within 4 nights my DS was self settling and sleeping through the night.

It will be hard at first but surely it can't be any worse than how things are now?

I used the pick up put down method after months of hourly wakings as I was exhausted. It requires perseverance and took me about an hour to an hour and a half for the first few nights, but improved greatly after a week or two. She then started waking just once
