Sometime my mum begs my dd for kisses but she kind of refuses sometimes and refuses affection. This upsets my mother but I can understand it from my dd perspective. The other day she just said 'I don't want to' (kiss her nan) and it kind of was really awkward and made me feel like I wanted to cry. However I can understand that she doesn't want to kiss an old lady. Thoughts?

Never force a child to kiss if they don't want to.

Your mum will need to get over it

Never force a child to kiss if they don't want to

Definitely, it is a child protection issue. Obviously not with your mum, but when children are trained to kiss every adult who demands one, they are much more vulnerable to abuse.

It's totally up to DD who she kisses and when. I'd never ask DGD for a kiss and wouldn't want DD to ask her to kiss me (or anyone else). DGD is a very cuddly toddler and will come up to me and just give me a kiss, which melts my heart and I feel very honoured. But I wouldn't ask her for a kiss. Your DM needs to kindly be told that children don't always to kiss the people they like or love but it doesn't mean they don't like them (unless they actually don't like them, I suppose).
