Children seeing news

Just saw an article about more children ringing Childline because the news is making them anxious. How do you feel about your kids watching the news, do you think it's too easy for them to see something they shouldn't? When's a good age for them to start?

I would say High school is an appropriate age (is that 11 ish) any younger than 11 I feel don't need to be awear of the horrors of this earth ..

My children are young primary school age. We never watch or listen to the news until after they have gone to bed. I find that learning about disasters, wars deaths etc makes them feel very anxious. DH and I prefer to tell them about current events ourselves, if necessary.
