My 8month old isn't crawling yet should I be worried & she also has no teeth at all ? She's very weak in her legs but wsnts to stand up all the time so have to keep standing her up and holding her ect, I don't know if its relevant or not but she had servere reflux so wouldn't be put down much for tummy time for the first 4-5 months of her life she was also born 4 weeks early every other baby we meet at soft play seems to have been crawling from 5-6 months and already pulling themselves up !

Ds was 8 months on the 19thead November and has just started to crawl, others who were born the same time I know some crawling and some only just sitting. They all vary so much in development I really wouldn't worry. (Also only cut 1st tooth last week)

PlinkPlonkPlunk · 04/12/2016 14:42

I definitely wouldn't worry about the teeth. Some babies just get them really late. I've met 1yos with only 1 or 2 teeth.

Not sure about crawling, though - hopefully someone who knows more than me will be along!

EsmesBees · 04/12/2016 14:45

There is a big range so don't worry. Some babies don't crawl at all and go straight to walking or bum shuffling. Mine wasn't crawling at 8 months either, she was late with all her gross motor skills, but an early talker and very dexterous.

There isn't a timeline for teeth. Some babies are born with them, some after a year. Most babies will start crawling between 7 - 10 months, so don't worry, you've got plenty of time. It sounds like you're doing everything right.

My son is 5 months old and isn't anywhere near crawling yet, but he has got two teeth coming in already. Like Q said, all babies develop differently. :)

kiwigirl92 · 04/12/2016 14:46

Dont worry, all children develop differently ds2 is ten months and is only shuffling, your dd wanting to stand and putting her weight on her feet is a good sign. Also...crawling in itself is not a developmental milestone....moving from one place to another is, some kids never crawl...they go straight into walking, my ds1 only started crawling after 12 months and didn't walk till 18 months but hv was not concerned,

welshweasel · 04/12/2016 14:46

So she's only 7 months corrected? You really don't need to worry. In my group of nct babies (8 of them aged 8-10 months) there are still 2 that aren't crawling and most of them have only got going in the last couple of weeks. Teeth range from 0 to 6. You should be having a 10 month ish check with the HV, maybe mention your concerns at that (although in all likelihood she'll be on the move before then!)

BenefitsQuestions · 04/12/2016 14:46

My baby is 8 months and not crawling. It's nice that he can't move. We don't need to baby proof things yet Wink he will get there!

QueenRefusenik · 04/12/2016 14:46

Ds wasn't crawling at 8 months - he started around 9.5 and is now (at 11 months) terrifyingly fast on all fours. I wouldn't worry, you'll soon be secretly wishing your DD still stayed where you put her...! They vary so much - try not to worry and have a chat with your HV if you need some reassurance

eastpregnant · 04/12/2016 14:47

I thought it was around nine months they started to crawl? I only know of one six month old who is crawling (and I know a lot of six month old babies right now!)

sophie150 · 04/12/2016 14:54

Mine never crawled and only bumshuffled from 12 months. Then was a late walker (21 months) but picked it up super quick and is no different to his peers now a few months on. We missed the falling over stage - he's been really stable since he started to walk.

So don't worry! Enjoy the fact that you can wait a bit longer to babyproof and don't have to chase them round all day!

MrsNuckyThompson · 04/12/2016 14:59

My DS crawled at over 9 months. It's normal. He walked at 14 months which is pretty average. Nothing to worry about unless you have other concerns.

ALongTimeComing · 04/12/2016 15:01

Oh you've got ages yet, don't worry. One friends child never crawled and just got up and walked about 15 months, another's didn't get teeth until after 18 months.

Eminado · 04/12/2016 15:01

My sister didnt crawl she bum shuffled then just stood up and walked at 14 months.

catkind · 04/12/2016 15:02

8-9 months is average for crawling, and yes not doing much tummy time will tend to make it later. Not in any way to worry about.

DS crawled the day he turned 9 months. He's now 11 months and scuttles around like a little beetle. Don't worry!

Twolittlejobbys · 04/12/2016 15:04

Same here! Ds1 was a text book baby! Dd not do much, started crawling around 10 months and was walking two months later. They're all different and will develop at different times Smile

Ohdearducks · 04/12/2016 15:06

Your baby is fine, all babies are different. Mine is 6 months and definitely not anywhere near pulling herself up! She's only just sitting up steadily and no teeth yet.
My eldest didn't get teeth until 9 months and didn't crawl at all, he just scooted about on his bum from around 9 or 10 months.
My second did things a bit more 'text book' but there's so much time and they do things when they're ready. Don't worry!

Ohdearducks · 04/12/2016 15:07

Oh and my second baby hated tummy time with a passion so I didn't force him, he was the one who hit every milestone bang on.

NicknameUsed · 04/12/2016 15:07

8 months is early for crawling in my family. DD wasn't even sitting up on her own at 8 months. She cut her first tooth on her first birthday, and took her first independent steps at 16 months. I can't remember when she started crawling though.

Popskipiekin · 04/12/2016 15:09

Honestly I'd enjoy the fact you don't have to run after her all the time yet! I do understand how you feel as DS1 didn't crawl till 11 months and I did compare him to others in our circle who were practically walking by that stage and felt bad that he was "behind". But their parents were exhausted whereas DH and I were still able to go out for meals and have him happy in his buggy/highchair, rather than have to walk around with him.

neversleepagain · 04/12/2016 20:51

My dc crawled at 12 months and got first teeth at 9 months.

Clayhead · 04/12/2016 20:54

OMG, are you me? I could have written this!

He's 14 now btw, he runs for the county. If I tell people what a late mover he was they clearly don't believe me! Confused

randomsabreuse · 04/12/2016 20:57

Mine started with rotating on the spot and rolling as her preferred means of transport. Eventually backwards crawling before speedy forwards (utter nightmare to catch as by the time you've bent down they're gone).

At 16 months we have just made it to 8 teeth - only had 2 through properly by 1 year despite drooling and gnawing from 2 months! They're all different...

goodbeans · 04/12/2016 21:02

Enjoy the security that comes from having them stay put while it lasts! Once you have a mobile baby there is no going back... better that they have had the time to develop some understanding of the world before they start throwing themselves headfirst into it.
