peeing at nappy change

When DS1 was v small, someone told me about little fabric(?) cones that you can buy to pop over their willy at nappy change to catch any pee. DS1 not too bad on that score, so I never followed it up, but now DS2 pees fountains at more or less every nappy change.

Does anyone know:

a if they're any good?
b what they're called, and where to get them, if they are?

Or any other hot tips?

Never heard of the cones!
But IME they wee when you first take the nappy off - must be the cold air or something!
So, undo the tabs, slightly lift off front of nappy and hold it there for a few seconds - to catch the wee - before taking it off properly.
Worked for me (most of the time!)

I agree with porpoise undo the nappy let a bit of air in then wait with nappy still covering area . my DS did this every time too !

Drape a babywipe over it as soon as you take the nappy off.

Thanks - it's the quantity and firepower with this one, iykwim! He pees when you first take his nappy off and then often again when I put nappy cream on (I guess because it's a bit cold). It's quite remarkable...still, no worries about whether he's getting enough fluids

i have seen these somewhere. I can't remeber where but I think they were called something like the wee tepee. I'll try and track them down

Or you could try holding him over or sitting him on a potty and let him wee into that.

when boy was doing this I tried to remember to pop a wipe ( bit of terry cloth) over him. he out grew it. Now only free range wees when nappyless for a prolonged period.
