Stomach bug - now can hold down milk

Hello, sorry if this is in the wrong section.

My baby started violently vomiting on Saturday, it's now Thursday and he still can't hold milk down very well.

We have been to the gp twice, made multiple phone calls to nhs 111 and they advised yesterday to take my baby (6 months old) to a&e as he wouldn't hold anything down.

A&e concluded that it was a temporary lactose intolerance due to the enzymes that break down lactose have been stripped away by the bug (we know it was a stomach bug because I had it Monday).

He is 22lbs and normally has 4 x 9oz a day. But we only managed to get about 10oz of milk in him yesterday and about 8oz of dioralyte.

Today we have gave him 60ml of watered down baby milk (with lactose), 130ml of dioralyte, and 90ml of lactose free milk and some banana. (Nb - this is following advice from a&e).

However, today he has been sick twice, we have worked out that the volume of sick was around 130ml.

My question is, has anyone had any experience of this? Does it take a while for their stomach to calm down?

One thing we have noticed is today he is absorbing some liquid. Other days he is bringing up everything even after a few hours of eating it: like the milk stayed in his tummy.

Also, we were giving him milk because that's what nhs 111 told us to do initially.
