Need advice on second size nappies... help!

I've been using Tots Bots nappies on my DS since birth. We've been getting on OK with them although I found that they leaked a lot around the legs when he was first born. They've started to leak a bit now, maybe because he's getting too big for them? Anyway, I'm looking to get some next size nappies which will hopefully see him through to the potty. Does such a thing exist?

Can anyone recommend? I could do with something that doesn't leak. Are the nappies with built in wraps better?

Would be really grateful for any advice. TIA

Tots bots come in 3 sizes.

All in ones tend to take longer to dry.

Flamesparrow is a good person to talk to about cloth. She has given me some really good advice in the past.

I am trying some ellashouse bumhuggers and minki huggles for night time. I have a couple of tots bots size 3 on order too.

The only thing I can suggest qith regard to leakage is to order a couple of different nappies till you find one that suits and then expand your collection.

Hope this helps

Bumbles are allegedly a birth to potty nappy and they do a larger one called a bumper.

Oh yes flame is always great at this sort of stuff. You can get her here if she doesn't spot this thread.

Ello... been pointed over here.

Are we talking poo leakage or wee? If he's in size 1 tots then at 5 months he is probably about ready for the size 2 which could help. I love the wambamboos (as I have told most people ) for their birth - pottyness... if you get the nippa version you can pull the front up as high as you need to get a snug fit round the legs, and then just fold over the excess and nippa.

The all in ones or pocket ones can be good - it depends on what kind of leakage we are talking though - with poo I find it better to have a 2 part system so it has to break through 2 layers iyswim. If it is a wee issue then it could be needing extra boostering, or again, the next size up.

If it is too much wee, then aios probably aren't a good option as they don't tend to hold as much (ime).

Sorry... all of that was a bit rambly . I'll come back in the morning and get more facts so it is less guesswork

Hiya, Flamesparrow. Thanks for dropping in! Its mainly wee leakage. What seems to happen is that the edges of the wrap get wet and it spreads from there. I change his nappy quite often (every two to three hours) and I fold the booster double at the front for extra absorbancy.

Are the wambamboos from TotsBots? Am hoping to have many more LOs so would be interested in the birth to potty ones so that I can use them again. And again. And maybe again?! (DH permitting!!)

Speak later........

Ah, that sounds like it is the wrap that is the problem and not the nappy - its touching the binding and then wicking out onto the clothes. Which wraps are you using and what size?

Wambamboos are another make again, very similar to tots but slightly more generous so I find them to give a longer lasting fit iyswim.

bristols · 16/02/2007 14:52

I'm using the totsbots wraps that do up with velcro in size 1. Don't know if they have a specific name!

I think that could be your problem then - he's probably about ready to move into the size 2s

bristols · 16/02/2007 15:09

Right, I'll sort that out then. We use the fluffles with the poppers. Do you think I should stick with those? Will the size 2s go through until he's potty trained? I don't really want to have to buy a third set if I can get away with it

I'm still using my size 2 cotton tots for my 3y8m dd. I use ME airflow wraps with them and not had any leaks. Must admit that the size 3 Tots is easier to keep fastened but the size 2 are fine.

bristols · 16/02/2007 15:17

Thanks Juule. Please forgive my ignorance (am new to all this) but what's an 'ME airflow wrap'? Is it from totsbots?

OP posts:
Flamesparrow · 16/02/2007 15:21

Yup, the size 2s should be fine unless he is very chunky or a later potty trainer.

ME airflows are by motherease - they do up with poppers at the side here - I prefer these to use, but mainly because I don't get on with velcro.

juuule · 16/02/2007 15:34

Sorry I see Flame has explained what they are

makesachange · 16/02/2007 17:56

Wambamboos are not from Tots Bots, they're made by Geobel and they and we wholesale & retail them. There are a number of other retailers on the web.

As you asked, though, one place to buy them from is us here .

Don't mistake them for Tots Bots' Bamboozles which are a different product - the bamboo version of the nappies you already have.
