Top tips for preparing toddler for arrival of DB2

Hello

I am due to have my second daughter in 4 weeks time. DD1 is 22 months now.

We have tried to prepare her by talking about the baby, BF, reading a couple of new baby books etc, but I just wondered if anyone had any top tips for getting her used to the idea in advance. She can say "mummy baby tummy" and points to the baby in my tummy when asked but I am not convinced that she understands what is going to happen. Is there anything I can do to make things easier for her?

Many thanks

My DD was a bit older (2.9) when DS arrived but I took her to all the midwives appointments (with her Doctors bag!!)
I also pointed out every screaming baby we came across and told her that our baby might do that! Luckily he didn't.

Have you got friend's with tiny babies? Well worth pointing out, a lot, that tiny babies are really quite boring to start with, everyone else will be telling her about 'playing' with the baby.

Best thing I did was to start reading to DD with her sitting beside me and turning the pages whilst I was still pg. I said that once the baby was here he would be eating a lot of the time but once I had got him settled we could read lots of books. Within a week of him arriving she would go and get a book every time I got my boobs out
