How do you deal with four year old tantrums?

My ds is just four. A lovely, lively, funny boy but he never listens and when tired has huge tantrums. These involve roaring, hitting, slapping etc... I have seven month old and it's v hard to deal with. He is tall and v strong. Do you ignore, shout back...? No idea?

I use the naughty chair. I also (and a lot of parents would shoot me down for this) threaten with the naughty boy alarm, which I say alerts the police. I've been known to put the siren on my phone on YouTube I save this for when he is being horrendous as he is terrified of it. Bad mum

My daughter is exactly the same literally no listening what so ever when having a tantrum! I've tried numerous things, even tried lately that Father Christmas knows when she is being naughty! Nothing 🙈
I may try the alarm tactic though 😂
