My baby is two weeks old and I'm realising I need to buy a sling to wear her, especially as my hand is in a splint with tendinitis.
Please can I have recommendations and do you find them very useful? Can you put newborns in (sorry if stupid question) ?

Hello!

We've noticed that this thread is quite old now, and some of the product recommendations are a little out of date. We've spent weeks speaking to parents and testing baby carriers and wraps suitable for newborns and beyond. Here are our baby carrier reviews.

Hope this helps! Flowers

Agree stretchy good to start. I preferred the ten quid tie yourself one I bought off amazon than the close caboo which I ended up selling on eBay, I found all the excess material and the rings on the caboo uncomfortable. With the stretchy I used to tie in the morning and pop DS in and out all day. Then moved on to a beco soleil which I love. If you can't get to a sling library I recommend it's a sling thing which is an on line hire shop, it's about 10 quid to hire for 2 weeks and if you decide to buy you get the money off your purchase. If you ring them they are really helpful. Obviously going to a sling library in person is better but I didn't have one near enough.

I've never really understood the appeal of the close caboo or mai tai carriers that you have to do part of the tieing with the baby in and then untie to get the baby out.

Whatever you do, don't buy a babybjorn. The position is terrible for the baby's hips.

Oh I just realised something I forgot to mention - I had a caesarean. Will it hurt carrying the baby in a sling? I am nearly three weeks post caesarean. Do you have to wait a while after caesarean to carry baby in a sling?

No, I used a sling pretty much straight away after my section, certainly within a fortnight.

Thanks we think my baby has silent reflux so hoping a sling might help.

Can anyone recommend a stretchy sling? I've just been on amazon and there's quite a few...
