Recommend a light weight buggy please!

I'm going to California / Nevada in June, and taking DS with us. He'll be almost a year old then.

I want a lightweight buggy, not too costly, perhaps with a parasol. Any recommendations?

Maclaren Triumph. Unbeatable.
Everyone near me seems to use a protect-a-bub type thing rather than a parasol though.

It's a little more than i wanted to pay- but perhaps i'll have a scout for a 2nd hand one on ebay.

That's a nice alternative to a parasol- will offer much more protection i think.

Just bought a Chicco one from kiddicare.com that was reduced to about £50 and came with a cosy toes and a rain cover. We're very pleased with it so far, particularly like its cherry redness.

obviously cosy toes won't be of much use in Nevada but will come in handy when you return to chilly Britain

How about a Quinny Zapp? Really lightweight and can be bought off ebay for about £70-80. It's really handy for travelling as it folds up really small and comes with a carry bag. Mine has been to Australia and back with no ill effects whatsoever. Also is really useful as you can buy new covers for it when the old ones get dirty (or if you fancy a change)! It's really easy to push as well.

If its for travelling i can recommend the Mothercare Impro. It weighs 4 kg and folds up really small into a shoulder bag that you can actually take on board an aeroplane as hand luggage as it easily fits into the overhead lockers...much smaller than maclaren type umbrella folds.

I got mine for £50 in mothercare, we have used it on flights to Oz and Austria and its fab!! It doesnt recline but my DS slept in it no probs. Was great to have buggy immediately rathere than wait for it from hold or wait for it to arrive on carousel as ive seen with some airports.

Its a three wheeler and each of the wheels kind of fold into the body so is v. compact. ill try and find a picture

its bloody brilliant, when i bought it DH thought i had gone mad buying 'another bloody pushccahair' but he has admitted its fab too!!

Ps..it doesnt come with a raincover but i use a cheapy standard one that just fits onto the shade thing.

Where are you...if you're near York you could borrow it.

yes i am, and thanks for that! you're an angel. Am a bit far from York, but i'm watching that buggy. Will be ideal if it can go as hand luggage.
