Thicker milk for 8 week old

usernoidea · 03/11/2016 13:23

My hv has recommended I try my baby on thicker milk to try to space out is nighttime feeds. He currently feeds every 2 1/2 hours during the night and she thinks with the amount that he is taking during the day that he should now be able to be going for longer during the night
Do any of you have any advice for me please thanks in advance x

Honestly at that age what your saying sounds normal my 8 m still at times wakes up for a bottle

Unless he is gaining weight much too fast id kist carry on as you are. Mine dropped a night feed around that age so it may change soon.

Doesn't sound that unusual at 8 weeks.

At eight weeks old! You're HV is bonkers. It's normal but will get better on it's own in time.

Is he putting on a lot of weight? The only thing I can think is she thinks hes being fed to much I had a HV berate my for over feeding ds1 as a baby and tell me to limit him I didn't and he's a perfect weight now ds2 is a big baby too and I'm waiting for the same over feeding crap.

There is no evidence base for using thickened milk (I presume this is hungry baby milk?) They are more likely to get constipated. Sounds normal to me. Why don't you google normal baby sleep - the ISIS website is good despite it's unfortunate name!

Flisspaps · 03/11/2016 20:34

Sounds normal.

Surely a thicker milk means he'd take less, and then risk not getting the calories he needs?

CatsCantFlyFast · 03/11/2016 20:34

Your hv is talking rubbish I'm afraid, unless there's more to this. An 8 week old has a teeny tiny tummy. 2-3 hours between feeds is totally normal
