Teeth coming through

DariaJask95 · 31/10/2016 20:01

My girl is five months old and I have two questions regarding her teeth:

How long does it take for the tooth to fully grow once it cuts through?

And how long does it take for the second lower central tooth to come through?

One tooth has cut through and she seemed happy for few days but she's being grumpy again and I'm just wondering if another tooth is coming or if it's something else. :s

Massive variations between children I'm afraid but I'd say it's highly probable that the teeth will come through in pairs. So it's likely that this discomfort is the other lower tooth.

Completely depends on the child. DD1 could have weeks between them, DD2's all came in pairs. I have 2 under 3 and have no idea how long it takes for the tooth to fully grow once it's cut... as soon as they're cut I stop noticing them!

Like PP said it varies hugely. My daughter had front 4 through in a month, then the ones next to the front ones 2 months after and she's currently got all 4 molars coming through! Not a sign of an incisor yet! Her first came through at 8 months. She's now 15 months.

My DD2 is nearly 16 months and has all her teeth! DD1 didn't finish until she was 2.3.

Thank you!! Did any of you give your children calpol? And if so how long did you give it for? My girl is taking it really badly and I'm worried that too frequent use of calpol could harm her tummy..

Anbesol liquid and infant nurofen we've found to soothe best (though he is 7.5 months and nothing has actually broken the gum yet, but can be seen under it)

Anbesol is great but take heed of the dosage instructions for infants as it is very strong.

I gave calpol if she was really struggling.
