How long after giving birth dud you get your period?

Sorry if this is all a bit confusing, I'm not an experienced poster! Blush

My DD is now 13 months old and still no period! Vaginal delivery, very quick and unproblematic. She was EBF until 7 months and I still feed her at night (3 times between 7pm and 7am). I don't bf during the day and haven't done for a couple of months.

With my first child (DS) I didn't get a period after giving birth to him, and instead got pregnant with DD when DS was 11 months. I must have gotten pregnant at my first ovulation?

Has anybody else waited this long to get their periods back?? Is my (very small amount of) breastfeeding the reason?

Mine have just come back; DS is also 13 months. I was down to two feeds per 24h by 11 months (morning and evening) but my cycle didn't kick back in until I stopped completely at just under a year.

blinkineckmum · 30/10/2016 19:11

I am at 12 months and no sign. It was 11 months last time.

Joinourclub · 30/10/2016 19:13

Started when I stopped breastfeeding at ten months. Still breastfeeding the second and no periods yet at six months.

I stopped feeding at 13 months, but had been down to once every few days anyway. They returned when DS was 15/16 months. I was very lucky!

pizzapop · 30/10/2016 19:23

I got pregnant again before i had the chance to have another period Blush
Dd was 9 months.

chattygranny · 30/10/2016 19:24

Mine never returned until a couple of weeks after breast feeding ceased.

Sunbeam18 · 30/10/2016 19:27

After 7 weeks! And that was with bf.

Chattycat78 · 30/10/2016 19:27

Same here. Got the first period about a month after finishing feeding completely. Now feeding my second and no periods yet (5 months).

pizzapop · 30/10/2016 19:37

Oh and yeah I was still bf ALOT so I thought I was covered.

HottySnanky · 30/10/2016 19:41

11 months the first time, 15 months the second time. It was great not having periods.

slightlyglitterbrained · 30/10/2016 19:42

About 20 months. Was wondering by that point if they'd ever reappear!

EsmesBees · 30/10/2016 19:48

It was when I night weaned. You may still be bfeeding more than you think.

IfartInYourGeneralDirection · 30/10/2016 19:49

6 weeks. I wAs so cross!

heatherwithapee · 30/10/2016 19:51

5 months with DC1 (EBF but she was sleeping 7pm-7am by 16 weeks so period returned almost 1 month after dropping night feeds).

DC2 was also EBF but was still regularly feeding through the night until 12 months+. Period returned at around 8 months- I guess as a result of dropped day feeds due to weaning at 6 months.

Marzipants · 30/10/2016 19:52

3 to 4 months with all 3 kids and I was EBF. Was fuming! It was when they started sleeping longer at night.

cheekyfunkymonkey · 30/10/2016 19:53

Maybe two months after I completely stopped bf (even after only night feeds for a few months). If you are still breastfeeding, even a bit that may be enough to keep at away.

Frecklesfrecklesfreckles4 · 30/10/2016 19:55

Periods never restarted till after I finished breasteeding completely, even though towards the end it was only at night.
So DS about 9 mths, DD1 about 20mths, DD2 about 26 mths, DD3 is 2 and a half and no sign so far (I never intended to keep bf so long but the "Don't offer don't refuse" method of encouraging self weaning just isn't happening, she's very determined!)

Sandsnake · 30/10/2016 20:01

I think about 6 months with EBF DS, when he started to sleep a bit better and have less milk at night. Poss TMI but I've found them it be a lot heavier but far less painful than before.

Lalunya85 · 30/10/2016 20:07

Thanks all! Seems like it varies massively, even amongst mums who ebf. Wonder why!

pizz I also got pregnant before my periods resumed last time and I'm a little nervous the same might be happening right now! Hence the question.

Glad to hear others have also been waiting this long despite breastfeeding quite little. probably means I'm not pregnant then thank fuck

Flowers to all whose periods returned within weeks of giving birth. Life's just not fair!

DC1 was 15 months and I mix fed until 12 months. DC2 is 11 months and no sign yet (mix feeding again).

Liara · 30/10/2016 20:10

18 months, both times.

scrivette · 30/10/2016 20:12

15 months he first time, DS2 is now 15 months and they haven't yet returned. Both EBF.

chloechloe · 30/10/2016 20:19

After one year, after stopping BF at 11 months.
