When did your toddler stop sleeping in the day?

Just that really?

DD is 2.6 & I'm thinking of not forcing her to nap anymore as she's been a nightmare at bedtime for the past fortnight (which was when we changed to cot to a cot bed)
If she falls asleep in the car or in her pushchair that's fine, but I'm not going to put her in her bed for a nap (which annoyingly she always seems to go down easier for a nap!)
So when did you get more time with your toddlers! Wink

My 3 year old still naps 2 hours every day and does the full 12 hours at night. I dread the day she gives up the nap!

On the rare occasion she doesn't nap in the day she is vile and sleeps worse at night...:

GoofyTheHero · 24/10/2016 20:01

20 months. She decided one day she wouldn't have a nap and hasnt had once since. She's 3 now.
Annoyingly DD2 was born 2 weeks after DD1 dropped her nap, so I never had a single overlapping nap time with the two of them!

GoofyTheHero · 24/10/2016 20:02

And she has only ever slept 11 hours at night.

Mine both stopped at 2ish. Of their own accord. It was a pain because I didn't get peace, but I did get long evenings (until they grew up a bit more, and were up till 9....

NickyEds · 24/10/2016 20:02

Ds is 3 in December and still sleeps for 2 hours in the day if we're at home but he can manage on 1 hour if he's in the buggy.

isthistoonosy · 24/10/2016 20:03

Dc1 18-20months (gradually phased out)
Dc2 dropped to one 20min nap around 19 months and still has that now at 21 months but I don't think there is long left. 😞
They sleep 10 to 11 hrs most nights.

Peppapogstillonaloop · 24/10/2016 20:04

My first dropped it at 2y5m my second would still have napped age 4+
When bedtimes started getting late due to not being tired was when I dropped it. They do sometimes drop for a bit then pick back up tho..

DontBuyANewMumCashmere · 24/10/2016 20:04

My DD is not 23m and is starting to stop her nap. Shock Angry
She gave up the morning one at around 1y.
She sleeps better at night and takes less time to go down, is only slightly grotty without a nap. If she falls asleep in car or pram that's fine but I'm not too bothered about trying to make her nap anymore.

WilliamHerschel · 24/10/2016 20:07

My two year old (and three months) hasn't really napped in the day since she was about 18 months old. She's always been a terrible sleeper though. If she falls asleep in the day I let her (and I cherish it as she doesn't sleep that much at night either) but that's quite rare.

DeleteOrDecay · 24/10/2016 20:07

Dd1 was close to age 3, I think? It just became increasingly more difficult to get her to nap during the day and she was taking ages to fall asleep at bedtime. She does occasionally fall asleep in the car though even now at just turned 4.

Bitofacow · 24/10/2016 20:07

My ds stopped having a daytime nap the week his brother was born. He was just 3. Pain in the arse.

MissCalamity · 24/10/2016 20:08

Last night just took the biscuit, she was up until gone 10pm, but only had an hour nap about 1.30pm.
She didn't have one at the childminder's today & went to sleep 10 minutes ago...
Although I do enjoy my hour when I am off with her, the evenings are so much better rather than being up & down the stairs all night.
Thanks Halloween Grin

4 1/2 when they started school. 2hr nap and 11hr overnight

neversleepagain · 24/10/2016 20:34

We stopped our twins napping when they turned 3. Bedtime got later and later and we wanted our out evening back so we stopped them napping (despite them still wanting to nap) and bedtime was 6pm for a few months until they adjusted.

grounddown · 24/10/2016 20:39

DD was 19 months when DS was born, she never had another nap in the day after the day he came along. She's a right nosey one Halloween Grin
DS was also about 18/19 months.

DD is now 5 and would happily sleep 13 or 14 hours a night now but DS is happy with 10. He didn't sleep through until 2.5 though.

WackyWalrus · 24/10/2016 20:49

don't know - my 4.5 year old and almost 3 year old still nap for an hour after lunch

NapQueen · 24/10/2016 20:52

Dd was around 2.5 and it was a killer as I was heavily pg with dc2.

Dc2 (ds) just turned two and naps 12-3 most days but can manage with car naps or similar if we decide to have a day out.

NapQueen · 24/10/2016 20:53

Oh and they both sleep 7-7.

GoofyTheHero · 24/10/2016 20:56

So envious of all these older napping children! DD2 is 15 months and only has one 45 min nap a day, I imagine she'll be an early nap dropper too.

museumum · 24/10/2016 20:56

My ds stopped napping Monday to Wednesday at nursery when he went at 3. He still napped the other days for a few months. Then (now) he has two afternoon naps a week roughly.

Diddlydokey · 24/10/2016 21:00

Not long after 3. 2 hours to nothing overnight. It was an adjustment

MarvinKMooney · 24/10/2016 21:12

Both of mine still napped the summer before they started school! Not every day, but certainly 2-3 times a week. My dd is in Reception now and is beside herself with tiredness right now - we're embracing Saturday snoozes Smile

thisismyfirsttime · 24/10/2016 21:15

Mine is 2.6 and will nap in the day if in the pram/ car but is then a nightmare at bedtime and is quite disturbed all night. If she doesn't nap she gets a bit shirty at around 3-4pm (way past the time I'd let her nap anyway) but a sit on the sofa with a film and a snack puts her back to normal. Then 7-7.30 bedtime and she's straight off, up at 6-7am. If she would go off at 10-11am like she used to we'd be able to wear her out fir bedtime but she won't so no naps anymore!

Artus · 24/10/2016 21:30

15 months - sob!

ShowOfHands · 24/10/2016 21:34

DD was 12 months. DS was nearly 2.
