Birthday presents, how many?

If this has been asked before I apologize, I couldn't find any threads.
So how many present do you buy for DC? And I mean just the parents.
DD will be 7 tomorrow, she has presents from us, DP's family, my family and more on her birthday party (15 kids!). I think that is a HUGE amount of presents, we got her 5 things, one being a Halloween costume that I buy her every year anyway. They are not expensive things at all, but I feel its too many, but maybe because they are quite cheap I feel mean if I only give her a couple? I can easily keep a couple of things for Christmas.

When mine were that sort of age, they generally only had presents from us on their actual birthday - Grandparents etc would bring theirs when they came to tea the following weekend . So I tended to like to wrap up quite a few things like you have. Very often they would include things they needed (and I would have just replaced at another time of year) - swimming goggles, new socks, hairbrush, etc., and I'd also include something like a notepad or some felt pens alongside whatever their 'actual' present was. I just think it's exciting to be able to unwrap stuff on your birthday.

See my family is away so they post stuff, I leave the boxes as they are as she loves to receive post. There will be 2-3 presents in each box, one from my dad one from auntie. So she'll have all that plus my MIL and BIL and his family will visit on the day too. Possibly DP's other 2 siblings too we have a lot of family and all in one day!

One birthday present from parents. We don't encourage presents for the sake of unwrapping, I feel that it is wasteful and promotes the idea that quantity is more important than quality.

From us they have 1 main present then usually 3 or 4 "stocking filler " presents. Grandparents only usually buy 1 present too they tend to get money/pj's/clothes from aunties and uncles

A main present from us and a little present "from" sibling.

The amount spent varies considerably according to what they want/need. e.g. once year DS2's main wish was a rugby ball so that's what he got but another time it might be a lap top if there's a reason he needs one.

Well we've taken 2 out as they might not be appropriate - Alice in Wonderland DVD which I didn't realize its a bit scary and a book that might be a bit complicated.
I wish I had done a biggie now but I did not have a clue what to get, she likes cheap things! But as DP said we are spending quite a but on the party, so.
We seem to do more expensive stuff at Christmas.
