Cloth Bum Question. What essential oils?

Can any of the nappy experts suggest some nice smelly essential oils I could use when washing my nappies. I have been using tea tree and lavender oils, but feel like a change, maybe something fresh and fruity. We live in a tiny one-bed bungalow and the whole house will smell of whatever I use (saves me using air-freshener ).

the tea tree is antiseptic oil too..good for cleaning them..i would stick with what you have actually...have to be careful what is against skin if really young....

Suzy is right, essential oils are very strong and although this makes them brilliant for all sorts of things, sadly they're likely to trigger skin problems if you use the wrong ones :-( Stick with TT or lavender with nappies.

That said, there's no reason not to play with oils in burners, or even just dropping a few drops onto a tissue and putting it on a high shelf (much safer when little ones are around). Essential oils can change your whole mood and make the day much brighter. Or why not try mixing some oil with a base oil and using it as a body moisturiser - an incredible morning lift! I love lemon mixed with Lush's Dream Cream which isn't a base oil, but takes it brilliantly. I use Holland and Barrat's lemon Herbal Magic deodorant so I'm very lemony some days :-) Soooo much nicer than even expensive perfumes which now, to me, just smell horrid and artificial.

My husband hasn't complained yet and my office colleagues don't shun me so I guess I don't smell too bad!!!

Thanks Suzy and Emma. I'll probably stick with the tt and lavender then, don't want to risk a sore bum. I'll maybe try your suggestion Suzy and buy some oils for me - I definately deserve a bit of pampering...if I find the time.
