6 month old not himself :-(

Looking for some advise please..
My normally very placid and happy 6 month old has not been himself for the last two days. Bright red cheeks, not his usual happy self (but still times of giggles and smiles), not sleeping well- waking several times a night when has previously slept through or woken once for milk and getting very upset when I leave the room. I also think he's a bit snuffly. Although we're weaning he's feeding more these last two days, having an extra breast feed.
We've started weaning (has had baby porridge for a while as big hungry boy) and he is loving his food, but I can hear his tummy gurgling when he sleeps.
There are a few things that could be wrong- is he teething? Is it the food I am giving? Should I change his diet? Does he have a cold coming? is it a sign of a food intolerance? Or something else.. Please help me figure it out! Thanks X

Bright red cheeks and sniffly would suggest teething to me, but only have one Dd now 5, so no expert.

Teething would be my first guess? Is he pooing normally?

Does sniffly go with teething?
Since weaning he's poo is harder although he is passing something most days. I mushed up half a prune this eve to see if that helps him as I wondered if his tummy was hurting.
On some of the occasions he wakes he wakes with a cry of pain. I have given him a dose of calpol this eve to see if that helps and will get some teething gel tomorrow.. Poor chap..

Definitely sounds like teething. Teething ring that you can put in the freezer and teething granules might make him a bit happier.

I sometimes get this with DD that's why I thought maybe a leap? 9 times out of 10 when I check its right for her.

A ripe kiwi fruit (no skin!) a day helps with pooing. My DS used to get bright red cheeks when teething and got a bit sniffly too. Only Calpol helped really.

Thanks everyone, the red cheeks have gone but the drooling and snuffly nose (only at night continues). Since the red cheeks went away he was getting a bit better at night but now food seems to be disturbing him at night.
Last night he was unsettles right from the start, waking more times than I can count. I thought it might be his teeth so put teething gel on and calpol but that did not help and then it looked like it was gas pains and grippy tummy, He twice when being held did huge farts and a poo which seemed to settle him until the next one. I've been scaling his woods back after a few unsettled nights and the best night he did was when he only had breakfast (Weetabix and cows milk). Yesterday I added in lunch of homemade rice pudding (just pudding rice cooked with whole cows milk) ans it was an awful night.
What can I do??? He's a hungry boy and loves his solid food but should I stick to a week of just breakfast and his normal milk? Or just give one veg (he's had and enjoyed lots of vegetables).... Advice much appreciated :-)
