Hi what do people do if there kids bday fall midweek in school term? Do you celebrate early? We have 2 dd's one of which has always had bday in summer holidays. This is the first time 2nd dd bday falls on a schoolnight. A bday is planned for school kids at the weekend. Do people do presents really early on the day? Thanks in advance.

Presents before breakfast. Cake and a special dinner.

Ds doesn't mind at all and is always happy to take cakes into school and spend the day with his friends. Dd always has hers in the holiday.

Thanks theantiboop. Is the cake at breakfast or after school?

Presents on the table at breakfast, their choice of dinner at night (in or out, they usually prefer in), party with school friends on the Friday/Saturday with a 'shop' cake, family party on the Sunday with their choice of homemade pud/cake (they do it themselves these days - pavlova, chocolate mud pie etc) with candles stuck in it.

Dh always insists on candles at breakfast on the cake and then we do it all again (and eat the cake!) at dinner time.

Ok that all sounds great. Ill se if i can get dh to go into work a little later so we can at least do the pressies at breakfast. Smile

We have them piled up in our bedroom. Ds normally comes up at an outrageously early hour due to excitement. He opens them while we lie in bed and take photos, and dd tries to open some for him. Doesn't change our morning routine we just end up getting up earlier

Tbh, same thing happens on dd's bday!!

Celebrate on the day and the closest Saturday.

We haven't got to that stage yet but when I was younger we'd get up earlier than usual, open presents at breakfast, in the evening we got to choose what to have for dinner (fave home cooked meal, meal out, takeaway) and cake.
