Using phone while feeding

This is probably ridiculous but while breastfeeding I usually take the opportunity to go on my phone and catch up on fb/mn but I noticed my lg doesn't do that adorable look up at me so much anymore and I feel like she feels a bit 'rejected' because I've been pre-occupied with my phone! Now I feel bad and sad that I've not spent time looking and talking to her while feeding! Is this bonkers or should I really pay more attention at feeds?

I used to do the same but now if DD clocks on to the fact that I'm not gazing at her adoringly she cranes her head around to look or tries to grab my phone! She's so distractable I can't watch tv, talk to my husband, I just have to go and sit in a quiet room! I keep telling myself to enjoy gazing at her but no, don't feel guilty, I'm sure you give her plenty of attention at other times so just enjoy your downtime! Grin

I used to read on my phone for ds1 but then clicked that it's much nicer to read a kindle.😀

Read/watch what you like. It won't make a blind but if difference to your dd!

Don't feel guilty! It's multi-tasking. You can tell you're a parent - you're feeding and nurturing your baby and you still manage to make yourself feel guilty! 😉

I think a bit of balance is good. I used to take the opportunity to catch up on FB or emails etc. But also made sure to have plenty of time looking at each other.

If I didn't have some sort of down time whilst feeding, I'd go insane. Multitasking at its best Grin

Yep buy seven month old has clocked that I'm looking at my phone behind him and now spends his time grabbing at my face with his clammy fist so I can't 🤗

Ha! I've thought this before. But you spend so many hours feeding, you'd go crazy without something to read.

Bf changes as you go along. I can no longer look at anything as of is so easily distracted. But I still don't get the adoring looks anymore. I can't remember when they stopped now..... I managed to get a photo on my phone of that amazing smile though while I could. It doesn't quite do it justice but will remain my favourite memory of bf.

I guess what I'm saying is, bf is a journey, it changes all the time. So if DD no longer gazes at you, that phase might have passed!!

there's a lot of hours of feeding, you can't just sit there. I used to read the paper, a book or watch telly.

SleepFree my 7 month old DS does exactly the same Grin he swings his arm backwards as if he's trying to knock it out of my hand, the little bugger! He always wants my undivided attention!

PurplePidjin · 02/10/2016 21:12

If I look at my 13mo he looks at me and giggles. If I look at my phone he concentrates and goes to sleep. He gets plenty of adoring gazes when he's not an overtired grumpy violent mess, ta!

I do this too.. sometimes it's the only chance we get! I was whatsapping in a group chat with some friends last night one one sent a pic of her and her hubby off on a night out... so I send a breastfeeding selfie saying oh how different our Saturday nights are GrinGrin

Whatever gets ya through...
