Put your baby into their own room? I know the advice is 6 months but I was curious as to when people decided to put babies into their own room &/or if they followed the 6 month advice. Thank you.

I got a larger crib so she could be in with me longer
I definitely didn't feel comfortable with her leaving me before then but it's been nearly a month now and I'm used to it

About 7 months. And then mostly co slept until she was about a year old as she hated being on her own.

Erm, about 15m. But coslept with us after first wake until about 2.5 (DS) and still doing it will DD.

We're a cuddly family Grin

4 months. We all slept horrendously in the same room, and I still heard him when he needed me.

About 7 months. I'd have kept him in with us for longer but he outgrew his cosleeper and his big cot doesn't fit. It's a pain having to walk to his room to replace the dummy at 4am!

DS1 about 3 months. Our room was so tiny it was really hard work having the moses basket in there as well and due to the tinyness of our house he was probably closer to us in his room than most babies are in their parents room. DS2 about 3 months as well we had moved by then and had a bigger room but DS2 made so many noises in his sleep I couldn't sleep with him in the same room and it was causing me severe sleep deprivation so we just moved him.

About 8 months
But my house is tiny and his room is literally a couple of steps away

10 months - the room wasn't ready before then. Dd was a snuffly fidgety sleeper and kept me awake fidgeting around in her cot and I kept waking her up too. We were all ready for the move

2 years. Wasn't the original plan but we had a bad sleeper - quickly realised that no way in hell was I getting out of bed and dragging myself into a different room multiple times a night!

6 months. Wish we hadn't moved him though, as his sleeping got worse and worse and DH refused to countenance moving the cot back in with us. I was practically dead from the endless night wakings by about 9 months and resorted to bringing him into our bed instead. Still doing that now at 16 months...

Between 4 and 5 months for both of mine. We all sleep better in our own space but really don't like having to get out of bed for night wakings

DD is still in my room at 14 months... but to be fair we don't have another bedroom at the moment! We coslept till she was 6 months and then she got transferred into a cotbed once it became obvious that cosleeping wasn't working anymore. Hopefully we'll be moving somewhere with 2 bedrooms soon but at the moment I'm really not fussed! It makes any night time wakings easier to deal with, if she's not settling I can lie on my bed to soothe her rather than the floor, plus I'm also terrible at waking up in the mornings and this way she can just reach her little arm through the bars and slap tap me on the face Grin

6 weeks for both of mine - it was difficult but I really couldn't sleep with them in the same room. I did have a video monitor to keep an eye on them and both slept better in their own rooms.

About 6-8 months, when they got too big for the crib, or were at risk of climbing out. However, we moved DD2 back into our room at 2 as she was such a bad sleeper. Now she mostly co-sleeps, aged 2.5.

11 months for ds1. I'd planned to move him once he outgrew his crib but his sleep was awful so I ended up taking one side off the cotbed and pushing it up against our bed so I didn't even have to get out from under the duvet Smile.

Ds2 is still in with us at 6mo. We're hoping to move him in with his brother at around 1 year old but we need to do some serious sleep training first!

Just before he turned one. I waited until he was sleeping through a lot more because I'm too lazy to go back and forward between rooms.

4 months, just after last set of jabs, we started bedtime routine. It's the best thing we ever did, still roughly in the same routine now and she's 6!

Five weeks and six weeks. Noisy fuckers were keeping me awake. Only in the room next door with both doors kept wide open.

They're now 5 and 2.

8 weeks. They needed the space of a cot and I was struggling to sleep at all with newborn noise in a cold room, I'm a thermal PJs and central heating all night person. Nursery a few feet away (tiny house hence no room for cot in bedroom) and doors wide open. Didn't need a monitor because I could still hear snuffles and the tiniest cry. Was happy to get out of bed to feed.
