Baby toys

Can anyone suggest diy toys that babies actually like? I have a very active 7 month old boy who is in every thing. He rips up his flooring to eat, wants to be in the coal bucket, eat shoes etc. Has a box full of toys. Any ideas what I can occupy him with? This morning I've given him a pot and a wooden spoon and this seems to have worked!! I'm sure you clever ladies have more ideas??

Stacking cups were the only baby toy mine tolerated.
She still doesn't really "do" toys now at 15 months - has a pushchair but no doll and likes to collect up things and push them around (eg remote control, coasters, the playmobil 123 giraffe and toy man)...

One of my DS' favourite games is to open boxes to see what's inside. I save cardboard boxes and fill them with random things from around the house (a glove, a hairbrush, some Tupperware etc) and he has a great time taking it all out and looking at everything.

Toys he's enjoyed are his stacking cups, vtech walker, books and an elephant that has lots of different textures, sounds etc. However he gets bored of them quite quickly so I rotate them in and out of use. Making games from every day objects has saved me a lot on money on new toys!

ball pit, duplo (just to fling around!) and beat-bo have been favorites with mine

YY to stacking cups. Also Tomy eggs which lasted us well into toddler-hood.

I stuck a few tablespoons of rice and lentils and stuff in plastic drinks bottles - that was a moderate success. And as a PP suggested, boxes or canvas bags filled with whatever old crap you can find - Tupperware, dry sponge, scrunched up greaseproof, wooden spoons, plastic lemon squeezer, and odd sock, etc. That used to give us a few minutes of entertainment and make me feel moderately smug about stimulating my baby with homemade fun

My babies used to love a little box filled with random crap. They used to tip it all out and then put each item back into the box one by one

Yy to boxes of stuff, a big lunchbox or bowl full of spoons and other blunt stuff keeps me dd entertained for a surprisingly long time!

Also get a handbag you're not using and again fill it with random safe crap and they love taking all that out and putting it back in again.

Fill his high chair tray with odds and ends and let him drop it all over the side.

Possibly a bit young yet, but to entertain my 8 month old I fill low shelves with toys and other things and she pulls them off one by one. I think I have lost a kilo this week just refilling the shelves!

I also sorted out my tights drawer in preparation for the winter and allthe rejected ones got stuffed into an old ribbed pair and a pair of button eyes sewn on, so we now have a snake.

Silk scarves can also be fun and pyjama bottoms with a drawstring through the waist. For some reason that is fascinating.

Do you rotate the toys? I find this helps maintain interest in them.

Ah the old pyjamas!! I'll try this! All the toys are in one box I might try taking most away and rotating....
