My essay is 200 words over the allowed word count and I don't know what I can cut out without losing the crux of my argument.

DAMN,DAMN,DAMN

have you gone over the extra % allowed?

MiaWallace · 04/02/2007 15:19

Yeah 50 words over, trying to find ways to cut out the additional 50. Sounds like it should be easy but I'm struggling.

You know one of my classmates always makes the wordcount up! She just says what it should be and they take her word for it.
I always take out sub titles and I also make some allowance for the references & dates between brackets. I don't think that counts either really.
I'm sure you'll find somewhere to cut down.
Success.

yeah they aren't going to actually check, Mia

just don't give a round figure, say 3098 or something

if you get really stuck-have you tried using the thesaurus to substitue words, liberal use of the ; , putting stuff in footnotes?

MiaWallace · 04/02/2007 22:22

Thanks for the advice. Used some of the tips you have given me and I'm now within my allowance.Yay!
