Just say yes

Anyone up for a discussion?

After reading this article I have been trying to pause before saying no and really consider my reasons. Most of the time saying yes is really OK and much easier all the way around. As in, so what if I had something else in mind to do atm? It has allowed me to introduce some spontaneity and flexiblity that I didn' even realize was lacking.

Sometimes it is easier and better and nicer to just say yes. I have found myself saying no without thinking it through, but when I say yes it is lovely to see the children happy.

Exactly! Especially after having ds2 (10 weeks) it seems tha no is too often my first instinct when yes would actually be easier on everyone.

Interesting articel - might give it a go as I am often putting requests off with such annoying phrases from my childhood like "we'll see" oh I used to hate that and here am I saying the same thing. I don't want my children to remember that of me! So I think I might give it a go!!

Right. I am going to try this with ds1. A bit. he's not having unlimited chocolate - I have tried that before and he actually doesn't eat a balanced diet if left to his own devices.

But I do say NO too much.

Her bellowing about falling andd eyeballs really struck a chord with me. Ds1 is just like that - not for him the crushed weeping.

Have caught myself saying "We'll see" also Funny how we do start imitating our parents, isn't it?
