Baby Sleeping In Car On The Drive?

Hey.
My neighbour has a lovely little almost 2 year old whom she quite often let's finish his naps off in the car after a journey. She goes in and unloads shopping or whatever and generally hovers in the kitchen (kitchen window faces the drive) til he wakes up.
The drive isn't enclosed, window is left slightly open and he's safely in a car seat sat.

Would you feel ok doing this yourself?

No judgement of course, we all do what we've got do, but just curious to see if others would do the same in this situation.

I would and i did. not on a baking hot day though.

Loads of people do it. Mumsnet generally hates the idea though!

I can't - child wakes if car door opens or engine stops and no windows to watch her out of!

Absolutely fine so long as she is keeping an eye out. I used to leave mine asleep in the car on the road outside the house and would potter in the front garden. Obviously not if it's boiling hot!

I do it with either window or car door open. Only to unpack stuff, get myself organised etc - wouldn't leave them there til they woke up though and I have the car keys on me, I don't leave them in ignition

I often do this.

My toddlers rarely sleep so when they do I try not to wake them.

My kitchen also faces the drive..

Our drive is in a corner and it's quite long too so we're out the way a bit.

Yes it sounds fine and he is being watched.
Never wake up a sleeping toddler or there is hell to pay!!

If it's a hot day I'll leave my air con on as windows open doesn't really do a lot, especially if it's muggy outside.

Probably not the best for environment but TBH after almost 3 years of interrupted sleep with two toddlers I do what I have to.

I'd do this if I had a drive and either a room that overlooks the drive or a front garden.

On the odd occasion ds falls asleep in the car and needs a nap I just sit in the car outside my house (on street parking, only bedrooms at the front living space at the back).

One time it was warm so I opened all the windows on the road side and both doors on the path side and I sat on my front step in the sun. A fair few neighbours stopped for a natter on the way past it was quite nice!

I would do and have done, but not on hot days.

I used to feel aggrieved that society would be ok with me leaving DS in the car on my mum's drive (detached house) but frown on me leaving him in his carseat immediately outside our terraced house (in the car obvs ), at most 2 metres away from the window I was next to, with direct line of sight. I used to think it was a sort of punitive sentiment towards parents not rich enough to afford detached homes

I do it all the time. Leave the window open in the car and take in shopping / potter around.

My neighbour is clearly winning at life.... I'm going to copy her.

I do it a lot, but tend to go to my mums as I can keep a closer eye on them on the drive (ours is side of house).
Obviously leave a window open and their lounge window then I can hear them crying and keep checking them. I can't wake a sleeping baby, they do it so little it sends me insane.
