Baby number 3?

I know this topic has been done before. A lot. But I am in a serious quandary. I have 2 children aged 9 & 6 and my OH and I are considering trying for another. BUT. I am now 36. Not the end of the world, I know. And we live in a TINY 2 bed cottage. We live here to get into the local schools so moving may be out of the question. So the logistics of another baby is really bothering me. OH is super keen, but says that the ball is in my court. What to do?!!!?

What are your reasons for wanting another child? (I'm genuinely interested as the mother of two boys, aged 7 and 2).

I guess that feeling of not being 'done'. My OH and I have been having the same conversation for the last 2 years! Should we, shouldn't we.....

Honestly, unless your housing situation changes then I think the practicalities would be a nightmare. And I say that as someone who has just had a third because I didn't feel done.

...when you say tiny, how tiny do you mean? our house is 'tiny' to our PIL's who live in a house so large that it would swallow ours whole several times but it has bedrooms that are large enough to sleep 3 fairly easily.

Could you afford to move or extend in a few years time? If you have 2 DC's of the same sex now and the 3rd if a different sex sharing will be a complete no no in a few years time.

So, there is one room which my dds have a bunk bed in. Our room is about Big enough for our bed and one cupboard. The living space is ok downstairs, it's just the bedroom situation really.

We may be able to move in a couple of years time to a 3 bed.

Explained my concerns to OH last night and he seemed so disappointed.....

Wouldn't the baby be guaranteed a place at the primary school your youngest is at because of the sibling rule? That's how it works here anyway. I'm currently pregnant with baby number 3 because I didn't feel done but we do have a 3 bedroom house. We have a small terraced house too but the extra bedroom (even though it's the smallest box room ever) did make our decision easier. I'm a very much a go for it person. My heart over takes my head especially if the biological clock was ticking....

Tricky, you can buy triple bunks, but for a while you would certainly need room for a cot in your room and then possibly cot and bunk bed in the other room.

Could you go up into the attic?

Some of the logistics were made much easier for us by just owning much less baby stuff, luckily my DC's liked the sling so I haven't needed massive travel systems in and out of the house. The bedrooms are your biggest issue by the sounds of it (possibly made less of an issue if you had another girl) I've gone all out to make nice bedrooms that the DC's want to play in only to discover that they mostly like being downstairs but I guess that will change as they get older.
